And they’re taking the human, creative jobs in a lot of ways. Not the menial jobs that many would probably rather vanish given a proper social safety net like UBI. They’re taking the jobs that define our culture and society. The artists, musicians, writers, those that entertain us in general, are having an increasingly hard time because some derivative AI slop costs a company pennies. “Derivative” being a very nice word for “stolen from these artists in the first place…”

In other words, AI is displacing the exact kind of avenues many humans would prefer if they had the time. Okay, got the rant out of my system for now…

OneDrive usurping my folders and data, siphoning it to their servers without my permission (just like a virus) is exactly why I switched to Linux. It’s such a breath of fresh air not feeling like every update is trying to monetize and enshittify my computer more

Or you go out with a friend to do something planned, and they suddenly have a couple extra stops to make or people to talk to etc that weren’t in your social energy budget so you’re left running an unplanned deficit

One thing to note, the idea of running everything at max at 4k is an extremely costly endeavor with severely diminishing returns. The difference between max and high settings in most games is very minimal (especially if you spend a minute tweaking settings) but the performance hit of maxed settings is often massive. A 5090 will certainly perform the best, but even that won’t play literally everything maxed at 4k/high frame rate, and a 5080 or 9070xt for like half the price or less will get you very close visually, while also using quite a bit less power. You’d be able to save on your PSU, as well as the energy costs too. It’ll also dump less heat into the case, which makes cooling easier. So If money is no object at all, the 5090 is hard not to recommend, but otherwise something cheaper would get you 95% of the way there

Wait, is that why I can’t do 4k144 on my desktop?! I never tried switching between HDMI/DP for that because they’re both capable of the bandwidth needed as far as the spec goes - I thought the issue was Gnome or something

They sneak gelatin into so many things too. One that got me for a year or two after I went vegetarian was Altoids. I liked to keep em in my car to have something to munch/occupy myself while driving, and never even thought to check the ingredients. How could mints have animal in em? Turns out they have gelatin! I honestly never miss meat or anything, but I do miss gelatin to a degree. Not because I want gelatin in particular, but it’s in so many tasty things, and vegetarian gummies and the like are always so expensive ;_;

He doesn’t deliver on his promises. He didn’t for the people who paid him large amounts for a car, he certainly won’t for the budget minded folk

I feel dumb whenever people are telling me road names, of even major roads. Like, I know the turns to take to get to a couple regular places, who’s got the time to check out the street sign while watching traffic/turning?
