And he said

I disagree with the idea of unions. I just don’t like anything which creates a lords-and-peasants kind of thing.

By not having unions, he exactly creates the lords-and-peasants kind of thing.

Quite happy user of Pixel 6a. The only few annoying things are:

  • Under-the-screen fingerprint sensor works less than half of the time. At night and in bed, it blinds me.
  • Battery, despite adaptive battery, still feels surprisingly draining fast from time to time. The battery merely just hold for the day whereas I don't even have that much screen time or background running apps.

Und so?

Wenn Deutschland begreift, dass es internationale Fachkräfte mehr braucht als die internationale Fachkräfte die deutsche Sprache, würde sich die Situation vielleicht langsam ändern.

Listening and empathy. Putting themselves in others' shoes instead of just seeing/speaking/thinking about I, me and myself.

Make ceramics. It's really meditative. Time passes so quickly as I focus on the spinning clay on the wheel.

I yearn for the days when we just have functional apps and no fragmented drama or centralised corporate shit.

I just tried it out. Good that it allows you to collapse it.

If you are searched on a private property, at least (and in theory) the law enforcement unit needs to get some sort of warrant before they could search you.

I don't see why we are opening access to our private digital sphere to them to do whatever and whenever they like, and most likely without us knowing what is going on.

Honestly I don't know how relevant he is any more. He seems just like banging his head around and acting nonsense these days.

I despise the fact that most Android phones start with a 6-inch screen. I was resolute to switch to an iPhone mini next time when I'll change phones but then they also killed that product line. 🫠

I really miss the time I can do everything with one hand using only one thumb.

I tried their email out for some time and was contemplating fully switching over. But somewhat in their email has always felt broken to me. Some days it was the text editor. Other days it was the reader and account thumbnails. Their support was responsive but their engineering really gave the feeling that they didn't care in the past few months.

I guess that's why. I just wish something in tech isn't just working towards an MVP and then once it is out or sold, goodbye.

Alternative to Google, they said. It didn't seem so alternative by its way of hitting the graveyard.

I read somewhere that they prioritised cargo trains over passenger trains anyway when it comes to delays and service reliability.

Besides, what else? There is only one railway network and you gotta use it anyway no matter how trashy it gets.

They don't even need to compete for passengers.

Overall, there are many indications that government measures such as reducing bureaucracy, simplifying the recognition of qualifications, increasing digitalization, and providing tax breaks could reduce the tendency to emigrate, especially among professionally successful immigrants, say the IAB researchers. However, they add that "broad and honest" social acceptance is also needed.

Meanwhile, the CDU is now calling for foreign medical students not to be allowed to leave so easily after graduating. Anyone who studies in Germany should follow their studies by working as a doctor for at least five years — preferably in rural areas of Germany, where there is a growing shortage of medical professionals. "Those who do not want to do so must repay the costs of this first-class education," said Sepp Müller, deputy chairman of the CDU group in parliament. The Health Ministry, also run by the CDU, has welcomed the proposal. "We must attract young doctors to work in Germany instead of watching them leave," explained Tino Sorge, state secretary in the ministry.

Haha, good luck with that.
