This kinda resonates with me, but I also know some people who are genuinely really nice but also believe in crackpot theories, like there's this thrift store owner in my town who donates a ton of his earnings to a disability charity and runs a food bank in his store and everything, but he's also been convinced by the internet that the moon landings were fake and a bunch of protests were staged by the government

Crazy-ish idea, but maybe Lemmy could make a feature where instances can have custom awards similar to Reddit gold and stuff, and users can buy them to both award posts they like and financially support the instance host

idk if this helps but when there’s too much noise outside or too much stress inside I like to put on the radio quietly to drown it out, there’s something about being tuned into static-laden local broadcasts that makes me feel less lonely and more connected, not caught in the crazy buzz of the global internet but also not wallowing away by myself. It’s very comforting for me.

MPD + Cantata
For the most part I just lump all my music into one playlist regardless of album or genre, but day to day I also use several different computers, and I find MPD to be the best for syncing configurations across all of them. Cantata also allows me to see album artwork and track information really easily and has good touchscreen support compared to terminal-based MPD clients.

Still rocking a salvaged IBM X61 here! Got me through high school and it’s getting me through college. Makes an excellent no-distractions writing machine, sometimes I also use it as a second display for reference images when I’m doing art
