It is crazy how many highly skilled people put a lot of free work into pushing Linux forward, because of „let’s see, if we can get this thing working!”
I love the free software community.

Who the hell brings a war zone to a kitten?
The point here is the same as with „Black lives matter“. Of course all lifes matter, but blacks are underrepresented, as are men in mental health topics.
In my opinion the term they are searching for is „cookies“.
What the fuck? They go literally Big Brother?
Herzlichen Glückwunsch! Ich hoffe du triffst nie auf Zangendeutsch, da weiß selbst ich nicht mehr, was dort eigentlich gesagt wird.
May I tell you the story of my wife, a doctor, who send us to her parents in lockdown, worked her ass of in full protection a couple of hundred kilometers south, seeing our two little kids only at the weekends, if there were absolutely no symptoms and she didn’t have a shift the day before, for month? When she didn’t not have to work, she sat alone in our flat contemplating on the newly dead people who where to young to die.
Wearing a fucking mask was not the part that sucked during lockdown.
Can you write Binary with it as well?
The best thing: German Customs is in the Fediverse. Their post: https://social.bund.de/@Zoll/114851460544943879
Their account: https://social.bund.de/@Zoll
And I think they take questions.
I hadn’t „30% Americans are infected by a brain altering parasite“ on my bingo card.

Open Source is cool and all, but nothing beats this illustration!

The French have a way with words, I must say.
TIL that German „Blockflöte“ (literal translation „woodblock flute“) is recorder in English. A noun I normally connect to cassette recorder or record something.
In Germany mastodon is a real choice for the science community. There are some bigger organizations and universities hosting their own instances. Even the German government runs its own instance and some ministries do their public relations over them. For example @dlr@social.bund.de is the German NASA pendant. https://wisskomm.social/about is a dedicated instance for German science institutions.
I thought it was my turn now.
Edit: very cool project. I didn’t understand half of what he describes, but being able to pull this off is impressive.
„Butt“ is a fish. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bothidae In northern Germany it is also called „Scholle“.
I know where you are coming from, but as a German calling someone „Unkraut“ has a very dehumanizing sound and was used by nazis to classify people they wanted to murder. Example: https://www.deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de/...
„However, it would have to become the task of the Inner Mission... to clear God's field of this Unkraut“: women as victims of forced serialisation and "euthanasia" under National Socialism

During my studies I worked at the faculty, „typesetting“ the following for my professor: https://www.amazon.de/...
>700 pages in Microsoft Word in 2006. I knew about LaTeX, but was not familiar enough to convert everything to LaTeX and integrate last minute changes on top. The authors of course only knew word and the professor did editing and typesetting in parallel.
Afterwards all my academic text were written in LaTeX with Bibtex and I never looked back.
