Think about it differently: How many things would you not be aware of if advertising didn't exist?

In a world without advertising you would stand in front of the drinks section in the supermarket and not know that Coke is the world's most popular soda.

In a world without advertising the first time you start looking up car brands is when you decide to buy one, as with washing machines or sth.

In a world without advertising you don't plan out what do get during the Steam summer sale.

etc. It does not "mind control" you - but it absolutely shapes your considerations as a consumer

Fiona turns into an oger.

New rule: All squares around an oger become swamp.

I'd like to say glad to bere here, but tbh it makes me sad to leave behind my Reddit account of almost a decade.

Lemmy look promising though (and still slightly confusing :)

Personally I'm too nostalgic to just scrap my Reddit account; I want to keep it as a personal archive

Doesn't this icon design get confusing?

Don't get me wrong it looks cool; but it seems to me it would take a lot of effort each time to distinguish which app is which

There needs to be a Mozilla-like foundation that builds a competitive product platform for Fediverse that looks slick, is free of bugs, and matches any additional features that Threads might come up with

Things organically change over time; at some point the clustering you talk about might still happen. Actually network theroy predicts it will happen

I'm curious; is this instance pysically running on a local private server somewhere or in the cloud in some data center?

I enjoy being in a roll with a good gym schedule, seeing the progress, and the sense of having put the work in.

Otherwise it really depends on the exercise for me : I dislike those that make it hard to breathe. But leg presses, and bicep curls alfeel empowering.

This is why I stopped putting my mug collection in the kitchen cabinets.

Some bugs are for drinking now, and some are for looking at.

And some only I drink from so that I I ky have myself to blame if they brake.

Well it's just as bad but in a different way.

Big cooperations may not respect me as an individual, but they have a self-preserving interest, a brand image to loose, and are checked by privacy watchdogs.

A Lemmy I stance can be run on any PC in some anonymous guys basement; there really no way of telling.

Interesting, thanks. Have you added the additional Docker containers manually or are you using Docker Swarm etc. to automatically spin up and shut down new containers as needed? If not that might be worth looking into; e.g. also to not have unutilized containers running and eating up your budget.
