It's still not a solution for forcing developer registration, something that not only harms developer privacy and consumer choice, but also puts the data of all registered developers within reach of the U.S. legal system.
Alternative to CBS.
I was simply using Eurovision as a model of international cooperation; an equivalent comparison that highlights American nationalism is the cultural dominance of privately-owned national sports leagues (with token Canadian involvement) over international leagues such as how Europe has UEFA championships (CONCACAF championships have very low public engagement in the U.S. compared to national sports leagues).
Part of the problem is how large and culturally dominant the U.S. is relative to its neighbors, compared to the more balanced structure of Europe that facilitates organizations such as the EU, but a shift away from nationalistic events at the forefront of American culture would help with that.
every American will see themselves in this once-in-a-generation event
I don't see anything of myself in fascist-oriented, needlessly nationalistic celebrations when multinational Eurovision-style events that foster international cooperation would be a far more beneficial use of state and federal resources than promoting nationalism.
Unlike Russia, China doesn't even pretend to have elections (not that Russia's mean anything), is actively conducting ethnic cleansing in Tibet, Inner Mongolia, and Xinjiang, illegally claiming territory from India and in the South China Sea, applied pressure on independent Mongolia for recognizing the independent authority of the Dalai Lama, has a heavy censorship regime in place (including non-recognition of the Tiananmen Square massacres), has rolled back most of Hong Kong's freedoms, uses its own citizens to spy on its nationals living abroad, and continues to seek the annexation of Taiwan and the end of its democratic government.
Also, while its form of imperialism does not have the overtly militaristic character of Russia or the affinity for regime change of the U.S., the Belt and Road Initiative is not merely an altruistic means for China to facilitate exports, but rather a form of neo-colonialism that gives China substantial and unbalanced access to natural resources in the Global South. Taking on substantial debt from China leaves many countries over-leveraged and dependent on China for further investment, for which China expects political support on the international stage, including express non-recognition of Taiwan by any means.
Mr Trump has made fiery threats of violence before and failed to follow through. So, anything he says along these lines needs to be viewed in that context.
ABC is normalizing Trump's threats of violence.
The following paragraph from this Le Monde article seems to explain their reasoning:
Zelensky's changing stance on these memory issues comes as the Kremlin's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 has profoundly altered Ukrainians' relationship with their history. The authorities are now working to create a national pantheon to honor multiple figures of Ukrainian nationalism spanning centuries. Zelensky thus finds himself in a delicate position, caught between the risk of not meeting the demands of a narrative centered on resisting Moscow and the international repercussions of such memory policies.
Unpaid moderators should have the freedom to act according to their personal preferences. If moderation becomes a problem, the platform's federated structure facilitates creating alternative communities.
Less fragmentation is definitely better, so while the option to split is always there with more options than are available on Reddit, ideally communities should stay united to avoid dividing already small userbases.
Alternative to Fox.
They're expected to nominate Andy Burnham for the premiership.
Her two-year-old golden Saint Bernard doodle runs to the door and barks at the officers, whose faces are blurred in the video.
The point of body camera footage is accountability; blurring the faces of the officers involved takes that away.
There's nothing wrong with democratic socialism, and I can at least respect a communist who is consistent in showing equal disdain for Russian or Chinese imperialism as they would western imperialism. However, support for dictatorial regimes like Russia or China instead of democracies like Ukraine or Taiwan is far more common than it should be on this platform.
There will probably at best be 'officer training' with no meaningful accountability; uncensored body camera footage at least puts more pressure on officers to prevent such incidents from happening in the first place.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a memo claiming that Coral “has used his presence in the United States to conduct political activity in support of the Petro government.”
Deporting people for supporting left-wing leaders while celebrating those who support right-wing leaders is blatant political favoritism.
