Memory controllers used to be on the motherboards. So your motherboard would determine the type of RAM you used.

As you may know the something called the chipset these days they used to be called south bridges and we had a north bridge. And the North bridge had things like Memory Controller and other IO stuff. South Bridge hasn't changed much in terms of what it does. More IO.

It's basically like cache tiers. The closer you are to the CPU the faster you can be.

And I think it comes down too we have Steam. Steam is run by Valve a non public company with no shareholders. And Valve not only says but does. They keep things open and accessible. Game removed from Steam, that's file you can still download it and play. Things like GoG where you can get an offline installer. And we can pirate probably fits in There some where

But console you only have the maker and not a single one can be trusted. Sony removed movies and TV shows a couple times at this point.

My current phone is an F5. One of my worst Android experiences has been this phone before I put a different ROM. Never would buy another one without being able to unlock the bootloader.

I totally bought a Palm off eBay few months ago. It's been fun to use Palm OS 5 again. I got a model that actually has WiFi, which was also interesting to set up a AP that was compatible with it.

One I got had a dead battery, ordered a new one, it was so much nicer to open the old tech and replace the battery. Just screw and little solder. No glue and impossible small stuff to work with.

Apparently we are actually two brains. And one half can't talk. But does make choices on its own that can disagree with the other half.

Something they used to do is cut the connecting tissue between the two brain half's. People who have had that happen have explain how the difference sides of their bodies will sometimes disagree with the other. And when that happens the talking half might come up a really non sensical reasoning to why it did what it did.

Funny enough they do. Before Dark Reader on Firefox on Android I had a Chrome flag that did the same thing. But Dark Reader does a better job IMO.
