Not a single explanation of passkeys has managed to to convince me they are more secure than a password and MFA. All you need is access to someones phone. Before you needed a complex password and access to my phone.

The passkey also can't be backed up or replaced like MFA tied to my phone if it should unexpectedly die.

Congrats we've reduced account access to a single point of failure?

That would disqualify a lot of the better quality sources and promote low quality clickbait.

I'd much prefer either a paywall bypass, such as archive, in the body or comments. Alternatively a copy of the full text / high quality summary needs to be provided. The rules as provided would for instance disqualify reuters and several investigative journalist papers.

I also think posters who use a non standard source (ie not the well known reuters/ap/bbc/cnn/aljazeera etc) should mention in the text the reach and slant of the source.

It's kind of pathetic they don't even pretend to care about their own rules anymore.

I just hope we can turn this place into a better alternative!

Ama related; What's the thing your players did that caused the biggest "Oh. NO. They did that?!" reaction you've had

When you break your leg they'll reset it and plaster it while it grows back.

When you are in immense physical pain or need surgery, they'll give you painkillers/narcotics.

When you mind is off, they'll give you meds to suppress this so you can become better. There is a conversation to be had about society and if we give too much medication. But the brain is complex and when you are in a depressive spiral, where you contemplate suicide once every 5 seconds, it helps to suppress the fuck out of that so you can heal. speaking from experience there and you can heal

Then there are simply people/disorders which have a changed or disrupted brain chemistry (outside normal variation), if we have medicine to help these people function: we should use it.

I'd never recommend playing dnd 5e at level 1, even for beginners. Level 3 is where classes get their basic identity and you don't instantly die to everything

No, you're a fascist troll. You're just calling anything fascist to dilute the meaning.

Multiple people have already explained basic stuff to you, which you willfully ignore in favour of your baseless propaganda.

Congratulations your actions are indistinguishable from those fascist you claim to hate (but don't, because you are a troll).

It's not even for better yield, it's for better access with heavy machinery And the Netherlands exports too much as this water issue is one of a few ways in which our agriculture intensity is harming the long term health of nature and the fertility of the land itself

No the problem is that LLM keep being shoved into products and processes that are not stored for.

Why the fuck does a fridge need a text-prediction model, or notepad or even google when it isn't useful for fir most basic searches?

It has the economics of a bubble, is making or computing extremely expensive and in most cases degrades my experience. Obviously they are running into a wall.

LLMs used for purpose can be very useful! They will however not lead to AGI.

Much like my underwear doesn't need a Bluetooth connection, so do most of these products not need an LLM.

And we're not even talking about how there are people in jail for a fraction of the piracy these companies committed out that they used peoples private data to train these models. Based on how IP law is wielded against people we should get a payout for every single time an LLM is queried.

Three years ago I wrote some notes regarding the lore and background of the world I placed my players in. Now they're invested and actually hunting down the villain I added only as a background.

Nothing is as good as players being invested and exploring the world well past my initial ideas.

People with nothing to lose don't tend to stay quiet... They're also a lot more likely to join groups that violently and indiscriminately retaliate

But the peril is highest in those first few levels as a strong breeze will kill a level 1 character. I also think it is hard to get a feel for a character if they lack eveything that defines them class-wise imo

Not everyone who disagrees with you is a 'reddit agent'. If you do see such enemies eveywhere, that is an indication of a worrying mental state.

Have you considered people get turned off by the fake content you post? You have neither thought behind your posts, nor do you even bother visiting the posts your bot copied. Why would I bother responding to bots copying shit from another website.

If you consider lurking or sticking to commenting to be a problem, please just go. The goal of instances isn't to maximise the amount of thoughtless points.

Considering the instabilty of instances about 3 years ago; this is an account that survived out of the reddit alternatives I've tried since then. But the reality is that lemmy is probably never going to become bigger due to the serious tankie issues and people just salvitating at the thought of turning it into another slop swamp.
