Honestly, good. I was the sole active mod of a few 500k-1m subs and I've abandoned reddit. I set them to private but ultimately decided to just say fuck it and I haven't been back. I had a 13 or so year old account and was extremely active but now I'm done. I assume I've been demodded and the subs reopened but don't care.

So let them continue to demod and ban the volunteers that give their time to help make this asshole rich. I hope every decent mod leaves that shit hole and they can fill the mod roles up with people that don't care or will maliciously let the subs get overrun.

This is actually the biggest hurdle, if that's the right word, or obstacle that will prevent Lemmy from becoming an actual viable replacement for reddit. As it stands, it's basically just like you're using one app to browse a ton of random individual forum based websites with no real integration/interaction between them. And you have to search for the specific stuff you want to see. It's just a mess.

The nature of chat rooms is the same everywhere, that's why I'm curious how old you are. If you were on the internet in the 80s,when it was just basic message boards and stuff then yeah, people were much more civil because it was a very small community.
