I've seen pics of them catching some surprisingly large (relative) stuff. Go get 'em, lil guy!

My guess was a Great Horned from the overall shape and the color of the facial disc. The low classic hoot is going to be them.

He's got pretty solid head, but it's still gutsy putting it by those feet!

I had a Red-bellied Woodpecker early this spring eating at my feeder, which was close to a Carolina Wren nest. The little male wren would launch attack after attack, bombing the woodpecker's head. He's just stop and look around like someone was tickling his ear. That poor wren looked so mad he wasn't being taken seriously, but it was so funny to watch.

I'm just happy when people actually get to spot them in person. That's a feat in itself.

With the 2 GHO that will eat in front of me, it's been entertaining to see them grab a chick and hop away to the far corner on one foot. I wouldn't say they're not graceful, but it is awkward with that offset in balance. šŸ˜„

This Barnie landing with a big snack makes it look easy.

I want to do something on "bastard wings" that I think you guys would enjoy. They are crucial to allowing birds to land. I learned about them recently, but I'm curious about more of the physics behind how it works.

I guess the owl is one of those that cant stand others touching their feet. 🚫
