I like bickering about useless nonsense with people who most definitely will not be changing their minds. Yes, I know it's a waste of time. No, I don't plan on stopping.

I didnāt say the average pet was either of those things. What I basically said was that they probably meant when compared to the average pet, ferrets are much more maintenance and less sanitary than usual.
Once again, thatās a single video of one example of an old computer booting up. Itās hardly irrefutable, like anything anecdotal. Iām not even disagreeing on the consensus of newer computers being undeniably faster, this is just a flimsy evidence regardless.
And frankly I donāt care about ācontributingā as you describe it. That just amounts to adhering to everyoneās idea of contribution on social media, and Iām not Sisyphus, soā¦
Thatās the implication is it not?
āHey I have a question, but it might be kind of stupid so I donāt know if itās worth askingā¦ā
āHey, thereās no such thing as a stupid question! Go ahead, what is it?ā
āHey, thanks! So, is America a plutocracy-ā
āWhat are you, stupid? Yeah, youāre definitely an idiot. Stupid idiot. Get out of here.ā
Similarly, If I shit and take a shower after, Iām still not clean!
Sarcasm aside, this sentiment is oozing subjective interpretation mistaken for objective fact. Political views (like more or less any other opinions) are far more complicated than just: āif you are this one thing, you cannot be this other thing.ā
You can be fiscally right-leaning and socially left-leaning, as well as the other way around. Likewise, as painful as it may be to hear, capitalism is not mutually exclusive with leftism. By the logic of your opinion, Mamdani isnāt left-leaning either, because heās still participating in and thereby protecting the capitalist systems of the US. Itās just a silly way of thinking.
I imagine by āAIā they mean strictly LLMs from OpenAI and other related sources. Itās more or less a consequence of the term being used as a catch-all by marketing teams even if itās misleading.
Theyāve for sure used machine learning tools in their development process, I have no doubt about that. I mean, thatās literally what code completion is. Thatās been a thing for much longer than LLMs though, and itās really only a supplement to the actual intentions & efforts of the devs using it. Stuff like that is useless if you donāt have any game development expertise.
If I get to witness the complete and utter fall of Microslop from sheer incompetence and stupidity within my lifetime, I will be very, very happy. Until then, watching them drown above water like this will suffice.
Correct me if Iām wrong, but it doesnāt seem like the interviewee was ever asked about tools like code completion. The article focuses almost exclusively on āgenerative AIā and PocketPairās attitude towards its usage in game development. I donāt think itās fair to consider it a dodging of questions if said questions seemingly werenāt brought up to begin with.
Besides, I doubt non-devs even really know about/understand machine learning tools in game development aside from the standard AI slop machines. For them code completion probably seems more like a standard programming tool as opposed to something more akin to an LLM, especially since most people already know about things like autocorrect through their phones and the like which is pretty similar.
Regardless itās in poor taste to immediately blame the masses when something so widespread doesnāt go well. I think history and current events has proven more than enough how little that works, if ever. People really arenāt capable of truly acting as part of a perfect whole.
Thatās the thing, voters didnāt vote for a Liberal majority. Last yearās election gave the Liberals a minority. Thereāve been multiple floor-crossers from the Conservatives post-election, and then they had the majority.
The problem Stop Killing Games is targeting is the DRM for these games that require a server ran by the publisher to always be accessible when you play the game. Pirated or not, all youāll be greeted with after said servers are shut off is at best a large majority of the game being inaccessible, and at worst a perpetual error screen.
I find it very strange that we hate cops so much only to immediately turn around and revere people whoāve served in the military.
They both serve the state, the only difference (and a relatively arbitrary one at that) is the police suppresses internally whereas the military suppresses externally. Theyāre both geared toward the exact same end of controlling the opposition.
You can say that ātheyāre just following ordersā but I donāt think I should have to go into detail about the pitfalls of that argument.
Again, thatās only from your (biased) viewpoint. Iām sure you or I can say that with relatively little consideration from our cushy positions in wealthy countries, but try and get, say, the average Sudanese citizen to agree with that. Itās really not gonna work.
Plus to agree with your sentiment is to say that capitalism is worth the suffering it causes. Iām gonna have to disagree with that on principle.
