@fosstodon.org

I'm just a guy that loves #gaming and #opensource, despite not understanding how it all works 😁

I'm hoping that I can find the time and energy to learn more about coding, so I can contribute to FOSS projects in the future πŸ˜„

Still holding the line for #Squadron42 and #StarCitizen, just barely... πŸ₯²

My posts will delete themselves after 2 months, unless they contain media or get pinned by me.

@zauri27 I've been burnt too many times by fancy trailers and beautiful graphics... I mean, I'm a Star Citizen backer, I was fooled by pretty JPEGS! πŸ˜‚

Most of the innovative things happen within the Indie community it seems, with people who are truly connected to their projects. They are driven by love for their craft AND the profit, unlike AAA-studio executives that focus only on the profits.

@WhoRoger Let's not forget the fact that Lemmy and Kbin are both connected to the broader Fediverse, thanks to the AcitivityPub protocol! In other words, might be 1 mill Lemmy-accounts, but many more mill potential users that could interact with the content even without Lemmy or Kbin! πŸ˜„

@fm0d @vreraan Haha, this was basically my journey over to #Linux πŸ˜‚ And frankly, it was also my journey over to the #Fediverse as a whole!One day I just decided that enough was enough, and I had to practice what I preached.

So here I am, Linux, Fediverse and all!

@Ipodjockey @brenomartins What do you mean by this exactly? Lemmy is a federated platform, so if a rogue leadership for instance took over lemmy.world, you could spin up your own instance and migrate your community over there, and still connect with the broader network!

Now for the power of federated democracy to work properly, we need to not centralize on gigantic servers... πŸ€” And that's hard to do properly, whilst still keeping things user-friendly enough for most folks.

@rosatherad @polaroid This is very much how it works with Mastodon, you can basically export your data and hop to another instance whenever you like!

Honestly this is how it should work, for all of the #Fediverse. Migration should not be a second thought, but an integrated and assumed part of using the fediverse. I've jumped servers 3 times on Mastodon, because I kept finding a "better" home for myself and my interests. Finding the right place takes time!
