Reminds me of the opening paragraph from ‘States of Matter’:

Ludwig Boltzmann, who spent much of his life studying statistical mechanics, died in 1906, by his own hand. Paul Ehrenfest, carrying on the work, died similarly in 1933. Now it is our turn to study statistical mechanics.

Also, over 1400 open issues feels like a lot.

It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times.

Just ask Grok if it’s true

Remember, we do what we must because we can.

I took one after having brain surgery a couple years ago. Was funny to me for a couple reasons:

• I was given 5 words, then after talking to the nurse for a few minutes I had to repeat all 5 words from memory. I told her that I wouldn’t have done well on that pre-surgery. 😅
• When I got the “what animal is this” test and told the nurse that I couldn’t remember if a camel or a dromedary has two humps the nurse basically said “I think we’re good here”

My spouse was naturally less amused than me due to the conditions which necessitated the test.

Yeah, this is 20+ years too late :(

This feels like an appropriate time to let you know that I use arch, btw.

This is absolutely the case. In the documentary “The Fog of War” (a great documentary IMO) Robert McNamara explains how he helped create a personality test to screen applicants for Ford (I think it was them).

One of the questions was “Would you rather be a coal miner or a florist?”. McNamara says his family had owned a florist but the answer they wanted coal miner. For “obvious reasons”.

They’re leaving the fate of Hari Seldon suspiciously unresolved.

Also, I love the how the spacers and the fate of the empire are being explored. The books are on my favorite series but I love the idea of fleshing out new stories in the same universe.

I love both plot lines because I have no idea where the show is taking them.

It is….precious…to me

Smart enough to get out before they have credit scores.

At least they’re being honest

I think it was a clumsy attempt to filter out gay men.

Doing my best not to lurk

Wait….do we know for sure if he ever left the Jem’Hadar interment camp?

Cousin Galen has his own moon!

Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead is open source, actively developed and amazing!

Edit: I didn’t read your comment correctly the first time, I don’t know how long CDDA has been in development.

Maybe they could lure Brian Ferentz there.
