Ich war schon ewig nicht mehr auf der Seite. Invidous funktioniert auch immer noch, auch wenn viele Instanzen aufgegeben haben. Noch komfortabler ist es aber sowieso via FreeTube (Desktop) oder NewPipe (Android).

Ich habe auch letztens tatsächlich das erste Fax meines Lebens verschickt (und dafür eigens über Fritzbox die Fax-Funktion eingerichtet): und zwar an eine Arztpraxis, die partout nicht erreichbar war. Die gleiche Software ist auch auf anderen Servern installiert, andere Lemmy-Instanzen. Eine dieser Instanzen nennt sich lemmy.ml und wird von den Entwicklern der Software "Lemmy" betrieben. Das gibt es schon eine ganze Weile, dass Beiträge in Lemmy-Communitys auch von Mastodon oder anderen Fediverse-Diensten aus erstellt werden können. Diejenigen, die keine Überschriften haben wie Mastodon oder Misskey, da wird dann der erste Absatz die Überschrift. In dem besser keine Tags und keine Hashtags, sondern die besser nach hinten setzen, sonst sieht es in Lemmy nicht so schön aus ;-)

I think Diaspora continues to be an active and relevant macro-blogging platform. However, in Fediverse it is now only connected to Friendica and Hubzilla, not to Lemmy and the other software that only use ActivityPub protocol.

...Just a few small comments:

• "Firefish is a hot new microblogging platform": it's not that "new" at all, #Calckey, which has been around since 2021, has only recently changed its name to Firefish
• the antennas / news picker had apparently not yet been fully understood by the author: they do not fill retroactively and it is a full-text search that also finds parts of words. Therefore, if it doesn't fit, search words can be excluded - it works very well for me! If you use it for a little longer instead of just taking a quick look, you can use it to structure your content very well.
• "Lack of an official app is kind of disappointing": "official" apps are perhaps important as a "brand" for some, the so-called "Mastodon" app is also the worst app ever for Mastodon (fortunately with many better alternatives). The PWA for Firefish works great on all devices, if you don't want to miss out on any features and want the best look, you don't need an app.
• The biggest hindrance at the moment right now is the flagship instance at firefish.social:" The instance has clearly communicated that it primarily serves as a test instance, i.e. it does not strive for or want to guarantee stability. In contrast to mastodon.social, Firefish itself also makes clearer reference to the selection and there are now really many Firefish instances.

For me, the biggest disadvantage of Firefish at the moment is that it doesn't yet federate properly with Lemmy.

nur zu diesem einen Aspekt: ich glaube, dass Downvotes auf Lemmy keine so große Rolle spielen (wie wahrscheinlich auf Reddit, was ich aber nicht kenne), weil das zum einen nur eine mögliche Sortierlogik ist, wie man sich die Beiträge anzeigen lassen kann (ich habe die Grundeinstellung auf neueste zuerst, so dass mir auch ggf. downgevotete Posts oben angezeigt werden und die Downvotes mir idR gar nicht direkt auffallen).

Zum anderen weil Lemmy eben Teil des Fediverse ist und wenn man Beiträge von anderen Fediverse-Accounts aus sieht oder auch selbst erstellt, werden die Downvotes bei den meisten weder angezeigt, noch gibt es eine Benachrichtigung darüber (bei Upvotes schon), noch kann man selbst downvoten. Das gilt u.a. für die meisten Microblogging-Softwares wie Mastodon, Misskey usw.; mW können nur Friendica und Hubzilla Downvotes sowohl vergeben als auch anzeigen.
