The other night the bar I was at had a minimum tip selection of 25%. My friend expressed admiration for the fact that every time I got out my phone calculator to manually enter 20%.

I live in America, I understand that 20% is expected, but I was raised on 10-15-20% for bad-good-excellent service. The fact that the percentage expected keeps going up is a hill I'll die on. I'm not tipping 30 fucking percent. And it's even more egregious that I've seen this crap happen in cities where tipped workers make a fair minimum wage. Yeah some places tipped workers are making $2 something an hour, but where they're making $20/hr I'm not going to feel guilted into giving 25%.

Bah abolish tipping completely. Not just for food workers but all workers. Charge me what it fucking costs.

Ah in America you have to speak with the manager and basically attempt to convince them to comp your food. If the food is sufficiently subpar you can often get them to do so, though if the restaurant is just bad you're likely to not succeed.

And that makes a huge difference imo. Both are designed to be hot and gazed at, but Bayonetta is at least given watsonian agency. The character is in this way believable, because yeah the people in real life who dress super skimpy in a fashionable way are typically doing so on purpose.

The realistic version of the "hot chick who just happens to be dressing skimpy" would probably be just dressing plainly for hot weather. But it would be a distinct and interesting character design choice to have a major character in a video game just wearing cutoff shorts, a tank top, and practical sandals. That character design feels much more aimed at female players than male ones, and like if in a genre with lots of skimpy outfits would be an intentional rejection of the trope.

Yeah I think there's this huge gap between the image on the left and say the way the parents acted in Malcolm in the Middle. The former is sexually suggestive in a sterile way. It's like if your accountant was working in their underwear. The latter is sexual without being sexy. It's a married couple who has a major character trait of trying to fit some boinking into any gap in the schedule they can. It doesn't try to titilate the viewer, but instead just depicts sex as a normal part of adult life.

I'm not saying one shouldn't have sexy characters, but when it's emphasized the sexy should always serve the character. None of this "she breathes through her skin" nonsense. No you want a superhero in a blatantly sexual outfit, then tell us about how they're insecure and showing skin to deal with it, or that they're using sexuality to cope with the stress and difficulties of their job, or even just that they really like feeling hot. Have them acknowledge the sex behind the sexual choices the designers made.

Only talking about right wing libertarians because they're who this meme is clearly about, and left libertarians have very little in common with fascists.

Theoretically libertarians support individual freedoms including in the face of social and religious institutions. Their platonic ideal would support women's and queer liberation, personally oppose racism (but would support every individual's right to be bigoted). They'd be in favor of the right to use drugs. They'd oppose religious power. They'd believe minorities and women should arm ourselves. They'd be pro abortion, transition, and whatever else you want to do to your body. But most importantly they'd want the government to stop getting involved in your life, and that would be especially true when talking about cops.

Now, these people are rare these days, and some of these points were always unpopular amongst them. Back in the day they used to talk about wanting a gay married couple to defend their pot farm with guns. But they courted and cooperated with the technocrats, the theocrats, and the rest of the right. They refused to build ties and intellectual conversations with the libertarian left and so they slowly stopped believing in a lot of these things. But most importantly a lot of them are pointless contrarians who don't want to do intellectual work or analyze their emotions. When their bigotry was challenged they decided they'd rather be bigoted than be free. Also the ideology always was incoherent, but let's be honest, that's never stopped an ideology before.

They're mostly fascists now. And part of me thinks we're the worse for it, because society does need a strong group of people saying "I don't have to like it to stand for your right to do it" in order to be free.

It's a little that I'm getting older and they aren't as perky as they once were, but the main reason I wear a bra everywhere is that I'm far less comfortable with people seeing my nipple piercings through my shirt than I was with them just seeing the nipples
