@lemmy.world

Hi! I am a Software Developer/DevOps Engineer with a side hobby of 3d printing and self hosting solutions for my family. I enjoy everything tech, and automation.

Well that is unfortunate, Waze is a great community that showed what is possible with crowdsourced information and keeping people from getting as many sepeding tickets

I have been off reddit since the blackout. I will say it's disappointing since I've been using and loving reddit for years, joined the first reddit gifts giveaway and was there for the last and it's just been sad to see greedy people destroy a wonderful platform just to make a buck. But as many have said, fighting a platform on the platform is never going to work. Outright boycott is the only way

I'd say no, I think adding a incentive metric will just cause posted to be reposted and beat to death. Original and thoughtful discussion is better without it IMO

Those are shit mechanics who are just trying to steal as much money as they can. I would avoid them and call them out whenever possible. I've had some good mechanics who go out of their way to save you time and some who have actually helped without charging extra. Not to say it's required but the stigma of bad mechanics has ended up being the way it is by having people oblivious to what happens under their car's hood.

But that is exactly what they are counting on. We need more angry informed people instead of the angry idiots that lap this up because "woke is bad" but can't explain what woke is. Woke = anything you disagree with.

You realize how some people never grow up and some people never mature. I see these as two separate entities. Having an inner child is one thing, but being completely disrespectful to others like a 5 y/o as a grown person is something else entirely

I expect the exodus to be much less than some others are calling for, only because people are way more stubborn to breaking up with content than the app that serves it

Pretty sure English class is for daily life, so we don't revert to grunting cave people. This sentiment is what fuels poor Grammer, and it doesn't really take too much brain power to write/say things correctly

Not sure if this is sarcasm but I'm pretty sure I'm only motivated by a good raise and not cheesy "company culture". Especially since the price everything is up so much, a 25$ gift card which pays for maybe 1.94 cups of coffee is not going to make a difference

It's wild how thin the Russian forces are spread to allow such fast movement. I really feel like this could be the start where more civilians see just how messed up the situation really is

It sounds like what the picture is making fun of, already materialized in this kagi search engine. Paying for a search just is a about face from what the Internet was designed to be. You could argue everything is this way, but I'd then argue consumers are bigger pushovers now.

I installed mine during COVID lockdowns - wife got one as a gift for baby shower and we never used it but 2 years later I broke it out during the dark times for toilet paper and it saved our ass, literally. Definitely the best improvement ever, yet some people do feel weird about them, like middle schooler homophobia or some shit

The fear of losing what little authority they have is a great motivator.

That's just the brainwashing doing its job and making you feel that way. Either that or you're the one doing the brainwashing and screwing over your employees. In America, the large majority are proven to be struggling because of a gross imbalance in wages between executives and ICs

Is there any place that people can assist in trying to figure out issues?

Fitness is actually really important. You realize a lot of the "age pains" were just from being really inactive

At this point I think even if he's proven in court a traitor he would still get votes. No matter the outcome this election year, the country is going to be in a crazy amount of turmoil
