I don’t think PeerTube will ever replace YouTube. I love the idea behind PeerTube, but all the content creators are on YouTube because that’s where they can monetize their content. That’s not really going to happen on PeerTube.

That’s not a small amount either, 10 kilos, with most of it probably being single-use plastic containers and bags, so it’s mostly avoidable. I’m really not that big of an environmental guy, but using so much plastic is just wasteful, especially considering the plan is to export it to poorer countries as a permanent solution.

und dann wöchentlich/monatlich/wie auch immer ausgraben zum aktualisieren? :D ich hab ein Ruckhoch in der Schublade im Schreibtisch und eins im Keller, wobei ich überlege die zweite statt im Keller bei Mutti unterzubringen. Alle paar Wochen tausch ich die beiden dann, damit kein uralt Ruckhoch auf einer der beiden gammelt.

you’re right, definitely something I hadn’t really thought about. I just don’t get the sense that some communities are intentionally spread across different instances. Like there are two Plex communities on two separate instances that basically talk about the same stuff. I guess it’s just part of getting used to things, and it throws me off a bit since I’m still new to the fediverse.

i don’t think they’re procreating right now since they know they don’t even have the resources for the current population. feels kinda like a critique on overpopulation. if they actually needed to reproduce to achieve some goal, they’d probably do it in the least invasive way possible.

Yeah, iOS apps and Piefed still don’t seem to work that well. The only way to fully use Piefed’s features for now is through the web UI. I’m using Voyager, though.

I can’t follow this link while logged in to my account from feddit.org—is that what you’re saying? Piefed allows it, others not (yet, from what I've read and understood).

I used Mlem in this case. I can open the link just fine on the Web UI. What exactly am I looking at there? Sorry for asking stupid questions. I really like Lemmy and the whole idea of the Fediverse so far, I'm just trying to understand more of it.
