It'd be better, but selling that much land for this bullshit is still unconscionable.

A queue system really undercuts any scalper that would consider the controller a good target. There will of course be people without patience that could payout, but the larger market will just wait until their turn to order comes up. Seems like a bad investment for someone that relies on FOMO to profit.
has anyone tried this?
Yeah, a little bit ago: https://www.si.edu/...
Average lifetime for consumer brushless motors seems to be ~10,000 hours, so far from "the heat death of the universe". Regardless, I'm not sure why you're being so dismissive and rude about it.
People are whining and calling this a "disaster" as if Valve should have planned for a global hardware shortage. If anyone wishes they could sell these things as fast as possible, I'm sure it's Valve themselves. Personally, I appreciate the transparency and, while I was disappointed with the poorly thought out first attempt, this process is much better than just waiting for additional launch windows to randomly pop up and hoping to get lucky. The queue system is, imo, the best way to handle high demand items like this. I'm glad they're sticking with it.
I reserved around 12 minutes in and, after saying "September 2026" for a few hours, mine popped up last night. Glad I checked again as I sort of assumed the order would be given in September. So fair warning to others.
Hey dumbass (not OP), it didn't "lie" or "hide it". It doesn't have a mind, let alone the capability of choosing to mislead someone. Stop personifying this shit and maybe you won't trust it to manage crucial infrastructure like that and then suffer the entirely predictable consequences.
"We're hateful because you want us to not be." is such a dumb, lazy retort. It's not even an argument, just childish "Nu uh, you are" echoing of criticism. It somehow makes their bigotry worse than if they would actually put some effort into defending it.
thanks for using Leebra!
