I agree. I don't think stalmer is the worst. Especially in the rogues gallery we've had the last decades... But honestly the man seems like he was never the right person for the role and sounds like he knew it. I think no one else was there so he saw it as something he had to do (out of duty or something). But end of the day I can't sympathise with him. The country needs tough love and real leadership and he's not that. Hes had 2 years to come up with and present a clear vision for his UK and I still don't see it. Hopefully Andy has something in mind otherwise this is gonna repeat :/.

I'll be honest as a young voter the u turns are the most damning for me. It feels to me like he's more concerned with trying to stay middle of the road and regain public popularity than doing his job. I don't know how true that is given the longer things have gone on the more hated he seems to be. Either he actually doesn't care or he just doesn't understand why he's so unpopular and keeps reinforcing decisions that make him unpopular.

Like I want a leader who leads and stalmer seems like a beaurocrat thrust into a leasership position and unwilling to make any real long term improvements to the country. I think he was planning to just keep the status quo until the next election in the hopes the public will understand the tories just make things worse and then coast on that for a couple more elections, eventually making small real gains... But the country honestly does not have the time or patience for that. I certainly don't.

Even now I think if he was gonna resign he should've at least pushed through some meaningful changes and take the hate with him. Proportional representation for example. Instead he just punted that to the next guy and ensured the downsides of making a change like that impact the whole party instead of just him.

Can they add chromecast as well. Absurd that it's a closed source protocol that still doesn't work well with Firefox and other browsers.

I don't think vote to obscurity can apply here. Trump will always have a platform because he is a living engagement machine and that drives the Internet mad. He wins he's the top story, he loses he's the top story, he gets convicted he's the top story. The man is immortal in the worst way possible and the world is basically f*cked.

Apple quietly introduced code into iOS 18.1 which reboots the device if it has not been unlocked for a period of time, reverting it to a state which improves the security of iPhones overall and is making it harder for police to break into the devices, according to multiple iPhone security experts

Click bait title as always. So yes, your iPhone is mysteriously rebooting. I guess it just isn't that big of a mystery anymore.

Wow, what restraint. Now I definitely trust this guy who can't even trust himself with highly confidential information and the nuclear codes. /s.

Game preservation is dying because of DRM. You want games you can still play in 10 years, pirate that sht and donate to those keeping up the good art of game cracking. It's either that or buying remakes a decade later that are just thinly reskinned. I can live with sht like denuvo since newer games just remove it after a year and then I can buy it. Storefronts like uplay or egs that are dependent on a malignant profit only entity are at best mid-term rentals and at worst spyware you have to pay for the privilege to use.

This specific talk was about defining shared common interfaces so these different groups could work together and the guy who actually talked him into stepping down essentially said "I'm gonna keep writing C and if that breaks your rust stuff that's not my problem". This isn't about convincing the c devs to write rust it's about convincing them to work together when some of them seem to have made up their mind to sabotage rust support (either through indifference or willful interface regressions). Personally I'm more ashamed what this points to for someone new wanting to come in contribute to Linux.

It's false equivalence to claim steam has a monopoly when you're literally giving epic a monopoly on your games for financial kickbacks between yourselves that in the best case doesn't impact the user and worst case actively compells them to a much worse platform. What epic and gearbox did is monopolistic, what steam did is just make a good enough product that no one gives a sh*t about EGS. If you want an actual competitive store front, make something your users want, not your business partners. Gog is struggling but it's still my first goto for games because even if it's missing all of steams functionality, it gives me ownership of games that can't just be revoked or broken by publishers. That's a value add I'm willing to pay for. Paying more so publishers can make more money and sell a worse experience through EGS ain't moving me.

Israel at least seems to care about Israelis from my perspective. Hamas just sees Palestinians as collateral damage.

after Apple started letting users choose their default browsers on iOS 17.4 in the EU last week.

Lol, srsly, why does anyone use apple devices willingly. Like for work I sorta get it if there's no alternative but it really took government action to compell this extremely basic customisation.

I read this as grindr loses 50% of its engineering staff because of dumb management decisions. Honestly the RTO was probably just a cop out to their dwindling user base.

This dude is balls to the wall hilarious. If it wasn't for the fact that he was dead serious about everything he says I might enjoy him as jester.

I think the common incest fantasy in the west isn't too far removed from this too. Like all the actors are above age minimums but they pretend to be step kids or babysitters like these roles aren't commonly associated with children and older teens. It's clearly a form of deflection IMO.

It costs $49.99 per year (or $11.99 per month)

Why in the hell does the monthly price end with you paying 280% more than the yearly. That is such an absurd discount I don't even know why someone would pay at all for this app but more so I want to understand where the price justification is and who came up with this plan.

To be clear I support artists and more than welcome a platform for them to share and sell art if they wish... I don't get why it needs to be a subscription service and I don't see how such inflated charges are going to help artists as it'll just discourage large numbers of people wanting to support them.

I have the utmost respect and appreciation for mullvad but I don't need a vpn without port forwarding so I cancelled my sub. They are still objectively the vest vpn, this is the only sticking point.

This is such a bizarre point. Why does anyone try to use existing services when they can just make their own. Go dig a well for water and build your own dam for hydroelectric power.

Last July, the U.N. adopted a resolution condemning Quran burning, calling attacks on the Muslim holy book "religious hatred." The same month the U.N. General Assembly passed a resolution that deplores all acts of violence against holy books as a violation of international law.

Holy books shouldn't be protected as some sort of sacred existence especially not globally. Religions should be scrutinised at all levels, putting any religious relic on a pedestal and enshrining protections that seem less focused on protecting followers of that religion and more on the idea of it is absurd. What's next you can't call scientology a cult because it hurts people's feelings.

Edit: adjust phrasing.

All the jokes aside, it's still amazing the CEO over a year in doesn't even know how profitable being an user that drives engagement on the site is compared to a (I guess) competitor like youtube. He's just like we're as profitable as youtube for you, or if not we can be, like the guy knows nothing and is just throwing claims out there with no basis in reality or plan to follow through on them.

Does Japan not have... like... an anti monopoly board. This is an insane merger to even consider. It would make an entity so large it could dominate multiple media industries.
