No power as in from the grid? Fire up my house generator so we can at the very least have water (from a well), heat (in winter), and preserve the goods in the refrigerator (was once worth a fortune!). Its powerful enough to do everything else though, as if we were on-grid..
A day without power? Not in my house for the necessities stated above. While tent camping, sure, but I mean I still bring my phone and a battery pack to charge it + lights and stuff.. so hmm
Back when rooting was all the rage I tinkered with hosting various services. It just didn't make much sense for such an underpowered device, amongst other reasons (battery swelling).
I did use an old phone to "host" a game automation. One of those "idle clicker" / RPG games since I'm so lazy. After about 2 months the battery swelled and popped the back cover off. That was the end to that idea..
Was the final nail in the coffin for me. Blocked Reddit via DNS house-wide so there's no chance I accidentally visit them again.. Can be annoying since so many answers are there, but as others have said extensions + wayback machine solve that. The block had reduced my frustration level considerably though, I have no regrets.
If he's the type of guy that doesn't expect repayment and did it out of the kindness in his heart, you can reciprocate by doing the same. Let him know you owe him one, and make sure sure it's received that you're serious and not just something "you say".
When your time comes to do something for him, do you expect payment? Or for him to grovel?
What a neat concept. I love to see innovation like this. Sure, it is markably worse throughput than basically anything else, but it's something completely new.
The only situation I can see this being useful in is if wireless RF is being monitored, or a mass gathering where uni/multi-cast is simply infeasible.
As it is now, at least. Would love to see it developed further. I have serious concerns at how well it'd function in low light.
thanks for using Leebra!
