I hadn't noticed an issue with hexbear until the recent post. They definitely gave me a bad impression of their whole instance with their behavior.

I definitely think defederation is in order. Unless I'm mistaken, the most their admins have done to stop the brigading has been a comment on the post saying to stop interacting. No post on hexbear, nothing.

They seem like a bunch of shitty trolls. Acceptance of trans people aside, there's not really a reason to continue to federate with an instance like that.

EDIT: they just added to their code of conduct disallowing the kind of behavior we saw yesterday. Still unsure if remaining federated is a good idea

I would not describe the comments on that post as defensive. Ada initially said we wouldn't defed as there hadn't been any issues, so there wasnt really anything they needed to defend themselves from. Everything they commented was aggressive and filled with vitriol. Even the comments regarding our instance over on hexbear are just rude.

Lmao even" to stir up hexbear, and then when Ada asked them not to they acted like a child by scribbling over the DM with big text saying "ADA MADE ME CENSOR THIS". If they don't want tankie's in their community, fine. But they dealt with this TERRIBLY and only made things far far worse. They should not be a moderator of any community here

The users of hexbear just are very bitter that we didn't adore their aggressive comments on the last post. I really just have a hard time seeing anything good coming of remaining federated.

Ok sure, but my point is that's NOT what was happening in that thread. Hexbear wasn't just like "oh hey now we're not all bad" or "I don't know what behavior you're complaining about". They attacked Ada, Blahaj as a whole, and were just generally aggressive and unpleasant

They're slow rn because they're being worked on. The admins have been very open about this in their recent post. They're changing how the instance is hosted so it doesn't cost them the $3000 per month it costs ATM. Once the maintenance is done, things will be back to normal
