It's also fashwase
A jiffy is also an actual measurement of time, specifically 3×10^{-24} seconds :)
Some art is good precisely because of a fundamental clash between intention and result. Tommy Wiseau's "The Room" earnestly tries to be a drama, fails spectacularly, and thus becomes an excellent comedy and a fascinating exploration of Wiseau's psyche. A tragic and undeserved 0/10 by your framework.
Wiseau's later work tries and fails to replicate his debut's cult success with intention. It's all much worse than The Room, but 5/10 in your framework.
Yeah, the problem is (speaking from experience as well as theory), mononormativity is so strong a force that poly people often get pressured into monogamous relationships (consciously or not), and then only realise that they feel differently from mono people when already in a monogamous relationship. Usually there has been a declaration of monogamy, but assenting to that is not exactly always a free choice, especially since the cultural norm is that that is the only way a relationship can progress. So it's not pure implicit signals leading to self-selection, and explicit contract-making doesn't solve the problem.
That said, the common complaint of straight cis women in dating is that there are a lot of fuckboys out there, who are just interested in sex, and surely the men quickly realize that being upfront about what they want is disqualifying on a near population-wide level, so they quickly learn not to communicate what they really want.
It does seem like this happens; it's also pretty bleak. It seems to lead to a lot of lying and deception, and destruction of the social fabric. Norms among queer and poly people seem to me to be more functional, but I am surely biased. See also !are_the_straights_ok@lemmy.blahaj.zone
Yeah, I mean, I'm a queer polyamorous woman so very much in a different world (perhaps within your "much less likely" category :p). I do see where you're coming from; I guess there is a difference between being honest if asked something like "do you want to fuck my sister?" (maybe stupid question to ask if a yes would be hurtful, but imo very important to not lie), and your original example of asking carelessly and unprompted if it would be okay to do so, which does raise a lot of questions as you say.
I do think it's fundamentally unrealistic even within monogamy to expect your partner to never be interested in anyone else, but probably realistic to expect them not to take steps towards being with someone else without a very careful conversation first. And that conversation is much better done before there is any particular person in mind, otherwise it can come across as "I want to date this other person more than you, but also I like the security of this relationship" etc etc.
then think its OK to ask their wife how they would feel about a three-way with her sister.
I can never understand how relationships are supposed to function at all if one person would take issue with honest communication. That's not a relationship I would want to be in. But idk, maybe I just don't understand straight people.

Well, that's the problem with IoT devices, isn't it.
Maximum dynamic pressure. At max q, the mechanical stress on a spacecraft stops increasing and starts decreasing. If a spacecraft is going to blow up, it usually does so before max q.
Not sure how to make that apply here 🧐
btw please write "trans woman" instead of "transwoman", I'm sure you didn't intend it but the latter is frequently used by as a dog-whistle by fascists to avoid admitting we are women.
In that example, it should have been first-hand or firsthand. When multiple words are used together as an adjective, in this case an adjective-noun pair, those two should become hyphenated. I just wrote another example -- it's 'adjective-noun' because the two words are used as an adjective for pair, even though they would not ordinarily be hyphenated.
For the same reason, asking "is it 'first hand' or 'first-hand'" would be meaningless, because it depends on the context, unless a stylistic choice is made to write 'firsthand' instead
I'm in my mid 20s and a woman and I found out recently that the skinny jeans I've been wearing for the last decade have supposedly been uncool the whole time. I don't care. Style is personal, and I like them.
Really interesting link, thanks for sharing.
Anarchism does not (necessarily) call for a total lack of organisational structure, first and foremost it calls for the abolition of unjust hierarchies. I think a lot of anarchists would broadly agree with the main points of that article.
If you think there is no viable alternative to captitalism, I'd highly recommend the book "Capitalist Realism" by Mark Fisher, which tackles that very subject :)
Machine Unlearning is a very active field right now but basically no not really
Disdain for an entire country of diverse people based on the (stupid, bad) actions of the minority in power is a bit much...
Jesse what the fuck are you talking about
Police police police police police police police police police police.
Even if you want to separate sex and gender and define sex using sexual characteristics (not actually a good idea, see works by Judith Butler and Julia Serano among others, although I wont fight that point here), almost no sexual characteristics are immutable. The only ones that I can think of are chromosomes and gametes, but chromosomes aren't even binary (or observable without a microscope) and gametes arent a good basis either -- should being infertile affect your sex?
ah, hopefully with the Digital Markets Act in the EU, reliable bridging to Matrix with E2EE intact will come quickly. You can already bridge (e.g. I run mautrix-whatsapp), but its not in an ideal state
