Yes (with some exceptions like eggs, milk, and other animal products like wool).

It makes sense environmentally. I would change my mind on this if there was some need to eat meat that couldn't be replaced by a vegetarian diet. I don't see the point in eating them, though.

It's not going to change until it becomes more lucrative/economical to do so, though, of course.

Based on our growth as a species/taking over ecosystems, if certain animal populations in the wild aren't culled (have a certain number of their population killed), it will be bad for the local ecosystem.

There are arguments that allowing animals to do this, instead of humans, will not always guarantee the impact we want, either.

(Fun wolves in Yellowstone video in case you like video essays and want to go off on this tangent: https://youtu.be/Y9sQdMrEX2g )

Personally: I don't hunt and I rarely buy meat, but I still eat it from time to time and am upset when it goes to waste. I don't like the idea of a factory farm, but "here we are."

Final thought: the best way to decrease meat consumption is to make the alternatives easy to prepare and alluring to more of the population.

Only anecdotal on my end.

Chiming in because I'm also curious if this could even be tracked. I doubt companies would admit to this, and feel like they'd like prefer to lock us in and then bloat up with AI.

I could see optional services not being used because of it. I fear for what will happen with non optional stuff, like insurance companies and other services.

Alternatives need to be cheap and easy.

I agree. We've created quite the fast paced and frantic society. A cheap an easy alternative could shift our consumption if we scale it properly. I'd argue it should be a primary focus of anyone passionately against factory farming. We can worry about moral messages as an aside: busy, poor, and hungry families will respond better to successfully launched vegetarian and vegan fast food options at existing establishments. We're not culturally there yet.

Facebook is hard to leave because whenever your friends leave, the feed simply replaces them with other friends or ads (and now, perhaps, AI accounts). You don't realize what left. You believe you still need it to talk with your family (some family) .

You don't know who you're talking to on maybe forum sites like Reddit, and I doubt most users follow other users, so as long as something relatively human sounding is heckling you, it's easy to feel like there's still good user engagement.

I don't know what the future holds but I hope it's kind.

I tried playing on Amazon Luna and it was a buggy laggy mess, even for a single player "offline" only game.

I think unethical farming is present in every large system, no?

This isn’t relevant to farmed animals.

I agree. If we could replace that system with something healthier for the planet, and our species, we would stand to benefit.

It’s our job to accept them for who they are and respect their journey.

In a more general sense, it's our job to guide them, then give them the tools to guide themselves, and it's hard as heck.

Hot take: Everyone should accept that English is the common language, and only speaking one language is a setback.

I'm not sure if the language is good or bad. If it's the most spoken currently, it seems like it's a shoe in for our DnD common language, though. No favoritism, just using stats to decide.

Pardon my wall of text:

I'm blowing smoke on this topic based on dnd terms. Common tongue is English because more people speak that already. Whatever people do to it after, they do to it after, but English as a starting point removes the need for more people to learn Esperanto or whatever other language wants to be "common."

In the fantasy I've created in my head/my hot take: it would be easier if people shifted to English as common, and had "secondary" languages based on their location.

(In the real world, even sign language isn't universal. Certain languages like German apparently also do better for certain things like written law. I realize it's silly to expect our species to choose a common language based on numbers alone. I think more people speak English specifically because English speaking countries hold more sway on international economics/warfare (for now), and other countries have responded in kind.)

There are a bunch of different versions of Thanos in the comics. This version was whatever Marvel thought would put butts in seats. The rationale is that he survived a famine and his dumb little brain thought the best way to help others avoid famine was to disappear a bunch of them randomly lol. He didn't even make all superheroes that wanted to kill him disappear. Total idiot.
