Yeah, I think active users per time period is probably the better metric, but that is also growing nicely:

(Though with ~40k obviously much lower)

I don't see a point in tolerating people who spit on others (or whole groups without a rational factual reason), if that is your view on free speech then please leave onto these instances.
I see it as you should voice your convern about all kinds of things as long as it's not hurting other people (in an irrational/immoral way).
I couldn't believe it, tried it out, what the actual heck? I mean I get all these weird string vs number comparison but sorting actual numbers and this comes out? What kind of drugs were the designers of javascript (or at least this function) on... Who thought it was a good idea to sort numbers lexicographically??
Yeah certainly, I got accounts on different instances, and this is by far the fastest and most reliable...
I don't know, you don't want your instance to slowly "degrade" to a nazi-instance (to put it harshly) while repulsing potential users that would provide constructive content. It's a balance one has to moderate, as the Internet is unfortunately not a happy place...
You also have to view it from the point of admins (as it could be quite some work blocking individually)
For all the users that were on this instances that provide actual constructive content, no one keeps them bound to these instances, they can just sign up on a different one...
... until you've heard of Rust :)
(I think Go takes all mediocre language features together and makes an even more mediocre language TBH, take error handling for example, or generic programming (which I agree should be used sparingly, but is super useful if you need it))
Wait Republicans are not Nazis?
That would be new to me...
It's a spectrum, and I honestly put that label Increasingly onto Republicans, but I'm living in europe, everything seems to be a little bit less extreme here (but the trend is unfortunately not that good either). I think to keep a place civil one has to moderate unfortunately, since hate is so much apparent nowadays (likely promoted by the "legacy" social networks). A place of true free speech with civil discussion and without hate is unfortunately just unrealistic utopia...
Hi, I'm interested in running an instance myself. Would be interesting what your load and (growing of) storage usage is roughly to get a picture of it. Your instance is (still) snappy, I like it.
Yeah he's kinda a wannabe Elon, but I think he hasn't really found a fan base as Elon has, I'm not sure anyone really likes him lol
That's actually where the title is coming from...
Really? I mean I'm not sure if that's even legal (at least in the EU)
Arghhh the loudness of these things, makes me crazy, at least get an electronic one (that's on the other hand totally ok IMHO).
Btw. to reference the original article where this is from:
Yeah this was my initial reaction way back when I first heard of Rust as well (sometime around 2015 or so I think). TBF it's definitely not on the same level as e.g. Haskell. But it's generally I would say less verbose than go (or at least has verboseness where it makes sense compared to go IMHO).
A good article about this: https://matklad.github.io/...
The generic system is also (way) less powerful compared to Rusts (The trait type system/type-classes is really a nice Haskell-inspired thing, that I don't want to miss anymore). Also the lack of sum types and proper pattern matching makes go more verbose IMHO.
Not really, the way you write, leaves a fingerprint itself, so with a little bit of AI it's possible to link personal/identifiable profiles with pseudonymous/anonymous ones.
Yeah reddit had that also in the past (e.g. The donald), it's just an unfortunate necessity, to keep discussion civil and constructive in the future to also attract the right people...
In germany, netcup has a quite good price/performance ratio
Btw. why don't interfaces work + "as argument" (whether it's a constructor in an OOP context or a function parameter)? I think interfaces are exactly built for such a use-case (without all the boilerplate that's necessary with dependency injection as well as factories).
I say it's all about data flow and composability, if it's pretty much always in one direction (modular tree structure/architecture) then you just don't need all these "patterns"...
I guess I have to start calling function invocation with generic parameters, fancy names (like "dependency injection" ^^)
thanks for using Leebra!
