Doesn't appear to.

But looks like even GNOME Web supports extensions now. So no reason that something like uBlock origin couldn't be implemented right?

Love that you have to specify it's a joke because someone here would legitimately try to help otherwise

All my homies buy the off-brand Kitkats that, despite the significantly lower price, use Fairtrade cocoa.

They might be implying that it's nonsense to be having a conversation about whether trans people deserve equity, since they obviously do.

Yeah I tried swipe typing on FUTO keyboard too and was very disappointed, went back to the absolutely stellar Heliboard. It's definitely as good as Apple's swipe typing, especially after a few weeks of use.

To be fair the FUTO keyboard is still in Alpha and they plan to improve this specifically. I'll keep an eye on it as it matures.

From this article:

The procedure now chosen gives the proponents of Chat Control a significant tactical advantage. Since the law is in its second reading, an absolute majority of 361 votes of all parliament members is required for amendments or a renewed rejection on Thursday. In contrast, a simple majority of the MEPs present is sufficient for the other side. As many parliamentarians have historically already departed by the last day before the summer break, the re-enactment of the regulation is considered almost unavoidable.

Had the MEPs rejected the urgency, the draft would have gone to the responsible Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, where a legally sound compromise could have been worked out after the summer break.

Hold up aren't you the person who ditched the U.S. for Britain like a month ago?

Hope you get a job soon, keep on searching! Miracles happen when you least expect them :)

Yeah, so far from what I've seen, buying into the framework ecosystem is only valuable if you will use the modular design to upgrade, for instance to upgrade your main processor or the screen, as new iterations arrive.

You can't fight it all, all the time. Arguably patronizing a small shop through Shopify is much better than patronizing Amazon.

This is a good read on the topic.

Yeah, Zorin did this recently too. They made some good arguments on why Mozilla's trustworthiness has nosedived these past few years, but awkwardly centered on a ToS change that didn't really amount to much.

They didn't make a case for why Brave is more trustworthy, though.. (and I'm not sure one can)

/e/OS is a good option to regain privacy from Google, but arguably does some things worse in terms of security than stock.

You can find a good comparison here.

For the Fairphone 5, I'd recommend CalyxOS as soon as they're back from their hiatus. In the meantime, might as well stick with stock.

Finally a good, nuanced article on this topic, thanks for sharing. Only drawback is that the author doesn't seem to be aware that degoogling your phone is a viable alternative, especially with manufactures like Fairphone offering this out of the box.

Lots of people (including myself, previously) fall for the narrative that Apple can financially justify not spying on their users because their hardware is expensive. Versus Google, who have always been about ads and data mining.

This logic unfortunately fails to consider that a publicly trading company will always use all methods at their disposal to keep up profit so shareholders are happy. Expensive hardware was probably enough a decade ago, but the golden rule is: as long as a company can fuck you over in a way that increases profits, they absolutely will, given enough time.

We need federal privacy law in the U.S. and we need it fast.

Alternatives include PhoneTrack for Nextcloud (setup complicated but pretty much set it and forget it) or TICE (very easy setup, but only meant for temporary sharing).
