Meanwhile.. At r/selfhosted...
@lemmy.world
My main point was that if there's one subreddit that should of migrated fully to lemmy... it would be them. Practice what you preach. Granted they are probably one of the larger communities here on lemmy.
I think that is more complicated, as the channels need to generate revenue. Additionally, videos take up much more storage, and there is no option to select an instance like Lemmy. I only see options to selfhost.
MP3Tag + MusicBrainz Picard. I use MP3Tag to set the ID3 tags and picard to move them into the folder structure I want.
It takes a couple hours to set everything up, but I can't rely on Musicbrainz alone because my music has no metadata on Musicbrainz, so I set the tags myself.
This is because lemmy.world defederated, right? So at this point would we recommend people to make a different account on an alternative server? Not a problem for those that have just joined, just delete and make a new account. But have there been any recent developments on migration tools for moving accounts to a new server while preserving account data?
Anyone else think we need a new unofficial desktop client? I don't think the main one gets that many updates anymore. The last couple of updates were just to make it work with 10.9.x. There are 312 open issues. I wish I had the ability to help merge PR's. Not that it's a buggy mess, but some updates would be nice. Glad to see we get plenty of contending mobile apps though.
I was thinking what if we switched to a fediverse Youtube replacement, such as PeerTube. However, I don't think this would work. For one, because there are no ads, there's no money being made, and creators would have to be backed by donations. Not sure how much money that would bring in.
Additionally, the difference between a "creator" on lemmy/subreddit (creating a community) vs a "creator" on youtube (uploads videos) is that I can be a creator without hosting an instance here. Looks like if I wanted to upload videos to PeerTube, I'd need to make my own instance or pay for one. Maybe if there was an option to select an instance just like here on lemmy, but videos take waaayy more disk space and processing to stream than text and a few images. Could be cool to host yourself though.
Thanks for hosting Lemmy.world! Does Lemmy use a database? Until the software gets horizontal scaling capability, could we use a central RDS so the load isn't on the EC2 instance's CPU? Then we can use load balancing between multiple instances that pull from the same DB? Obviously, the db instance is still a limiting factor.
You could use android phones and apps, but I would also recommend checking out raspberri pi's. They are essentially tiny computers at about the same scale as a phone. Low power usage, quiet, and you can do quite a lot with them!
I also use Jellyfin. Before being able to set custom tag delimiters, you had to ensure your music artists and album artists ID3 tags were correct. I believe it used a ';' to separate multiple artists. Now with custom delimiters you can set your own. You may be able to try and fix things by setting 'feat.' as a custom tag.
Ultimately, I would recommend just using mp3tag and spending a few minutes setting up an action that replaces 'feat.' with a delimiter, such as a '|'. Run it through your current library and you should be good.

This looks cool! Unfortunately it requires the playback reporting plugin which I removed as it causes issues with later versions of Jellyfin (for me at least). Even with a clean server I found the plugin wasn't pulling any data and made it so album art and artist information wouldn't show up without a manual scan of each track. I was still able to find some interesting stats without the plugin though. Thanks!
ISO 27002 is a guidance and reference document for the ISO 27001 standard. There is no ISO 27002 certification. Organizations that wish to be ISO 27001 certified only have to follow the requirements listed in the ISO 27001 standard, not ISO 27002.
Regardless, I just reviewed the latest releases (ISO 27001:2022 and ISO 27002:2022). There is no mention of containers or containerization within ISO 27001. Containerization and virtualization are both mentioned within the 27002 reference, as a potential method of isolating confidential data. If anything, the document is recommending the use of containers as a preventive control measure.
thanks for using Leebra!
