Would be cheaper.

I'm not sure it actually would. I think most of the cost of these drones is being able to fly far enough while manoeuvring around air defenses, the actual payload is probably the cheap part.

Honestly, I don't understand why it wasn't chosen as a European language

It has the same problem as Lojban - you can only use it to communicate with the sort of people that learn Esperanto.

Esperanto isn't dead

Only because it was never alive to begin with

The now famous lid-throw explosion has been confirmed to have been caused by a Russian air defence missile of some sort AFAIK and there are videos of Russians firing heat seeking MANPADS (Iglas I think) which turn around and target the burning refinery but I don't think it's been confirmed exactly what missile made the tank roof fly.

The system can listen to conversations and play ads when there’s a moment of silence. Or play a video when you’re close to the shops.

Oh good, I was worried the slide into dystopia might be slowing down for a second there.

More likely - whichever billionaire mined it (well, funded the mining anyway) would hoard it off the market to keep the value high and make them richer.

*in the US. Norway has charged Thorbjørn Jagland and in the UK Peter Mandelson and the Andrew formerly known as Prince were arrested, plus a number of other countries have criminal investigations ongoing. All so far for corruption rather than sex crimes but that's probably a function of what's easier to prove in court.

On the subject of Ted Kaczynski and people in the Epstein files, I get an opportunity to revive this old limerick:

Lewinsky and Clinton have shown,
what Kaczynski must surely have known:
That an intern is better
than a bomb in a letter
of the possible ways to be blown.

I mean, the actual source for this statistic is usually "The Overworked American: The Unexpected Decline of Leisure" by Juliet Schor who in turn got the number from an unpublished paper written by Gregory Clark in 1986. Clark did eventually publish a paper in 2018 where he increased his estimate to 250-300 days (which may still be less than some modern workers work).

I just write my config files directly to random unused blocks on /dev/sda, filesystems are overrated.

The bite actually doesn't kill you, it just shuts down your nervous system so you can't breath.

I feel that's like saying "getting mauled by a bear doesn't kill you, it just causes major lacerations so all your blood leaks out". Technically sure, but it seems like a bit of a pedantic distinction...
