i'm the canvas guy (!canvas@toast.ooo)
I guess I should've added what Canvas was to the original post I cross posted. Canvas is a collaborative pixel canvas that we run every year, and this was notice for piefed admins to make sure the auth.fediverse.events instance is marked as trusted in piefed. This is needed as fediverse-auth sends a DM to users to login (one time code), and with piefed's default anti-spam, the piefed instance will silently not deliver the DM. Marking auth.fediverse.events as trusted allows the piefed instance to trust the actor's reported created at time (bypassing the "prevent new users from sending DMs" restriction)
Relevant links:
That should be all you need, I've reset the send cooldown for your instance so you should be able to give it a shot now
For anyone else experiencing issues with this, piefed has limitations on new actors sending DMs
If your piefed instance isnโt having anything pop up, make sure your admin marks the fediverse authโs actor ( @auth@auth.fediverse.events ) as trusted through the admin panel
this would be very cool
once the event concludes i'll be releasing a log file with all the pixel placements for other visualizations
if whoever wants to tackle this would like, i might be able to get it as a subdomain of .fediverse.events
the pxls backend was spammed by reports done by the software itself (such as "account logged in with ip shared with 2,000 other users" due to a bug related to reverse proxy settings)
a lot of them we just couldn't get to because the aforementioned bug created 60+ pages of reports with no bulk delete or filter options
next year's system will be a lot better setup to avoid these types of issues happening tho!
that was a major hiccup this time around i wasn't expecting the event to be this large and this wanted, but i do have plans to market it a bit better this year
if you use Mastodon or Matrix check out this post
I apologize, there has been some miscommunication to the moderators and lack of judgment on my part
I did not expect canvas to get this big this fast, I will talk to the moderators and make sure everyone is on the same page to prevent things like this from happening
Since the video doesnโt auto-play and it doesnโt fall under, what I would consider NSFL, I will be reverting your ban, I apologize for the misunderstanding
message me on matrix if you have anymore questions!
It was very difficult notifying people of the event, but I am planning to run another one next year!
Make sure you're in the Lemmy community (!canvas@toast.ooo) and the Matrix space so you don't miss it!
(also posting this here as i mentioned it in our matrix room)
i'm not going to explicitly banning threads from contributing but i also won't be testing with it (as i don't plan to register on threads)
if enough people are against it i might change my plan though ๐
I sent a couple messages into the Lemmy Instance admins Matrix room, but a lot of instances ignored the posts I made ๐
lemmy.world was voting internally on when to announce it but the event would've been over before the internal voting concluded they are interested in joining the next event tho ๐
and to any Lemmy instance admins reading this, join the admin room so you can be aware of the next one :)
I already have plans in the work to sell Canvas prints of this year's and last year's ๐๐
the proceeds from the print sales (and possibly other items) will go to funding Canvas itself (and maybe other fediverse.events things)
(more details related to this will come out within the next month most likely)
thanks for using Leebra!
