Breakup Divesting the Android operating system, used on about 2.5 billion devices worldwide, is one of the remedies that’s been most frequently discussed by Justice Department attorneys, according to the people. In his decision, Mehta found that Google requires device makers to sign agreements to gain access to its apps like Gmail and the Google Play Store.

It would be wonderful

I am french. I already saw these figures and tried to understand why it was like that. The figures might be technically correct but it doesn't make sense to compare them with other countries. 5000 people dying each year of hunger, it would be revolting.

We do not let people die of starvation in France, unless we think it is the best thing to do. We have this concept of "sédation profonde et continue". Assisted suicide is prohibited in France. So people that suffer from uncurable decease can stop receiving food and hydratation until they die. They continue to receive painkiller or are even put in coma because letting them die that way is legal and considered the most human thing to do. A french christian newspaper wrote an article about it End of life: Are we really letting patients to die of hunger and thirst in France?. They are really opposed to assisted suicide and even them are OK with this process. So technically, we are letting people die of hunger.

About people suffering from hunger, we have food bank to help them, meal costs 1€ at university... It is far from perfect but we are not letting people die like the figures would let imagine.

About overseas regions, it is not that poor. The poorest overseas region, Mayotte, has been mostly destroyed by a cyclone two years ago. Both public services and NGOs thanks to a lot of donation reacted quickly to avoid famine. The situation is still bad but people are not starving.

Hope I answer the question

Could we have the whole context please?

Why are you, a 25-year old, without driving licence in a car dependant zone? What do you do as a job? Do you have friends? Do you have hobby where you meet people?

You sound like a prisonner at your mother’s house and your date sounds like a little issue compared to the everything else (like loneliness, no freedom to go where you please, maybe no occupation?, vulnerability to your family ….)

I don’t know for other countries, but I read French news in French. So the French instance is way smaller than the English speaking ones

If you want a quiet life, don’t become a landlord. You can anyway invest in real estate through listed financial instruments

Assuming you love your father, I advise you to reconsider your position and go to the funeral. It seems to matter a lot to him. Be kind to him, go, ignore your aunts. Sometimes, it is not that hard to make the world a better place.

But it feels worse to pretend I respect those lying assholes or to listen to their boring life I don’t care about.

It is even worse.

I realized I was anxious about climate change because I was depressed and not the other way around. I cannot change the world radically but I can do my part, convince others to do the same, vote for the right politicians, pressure companies and politicians to act for climate change… In a nutshell I can do a lot and being depressed or anxious doesn’t help

There were xenophobic comments towards Russians, Ukrainians and Americans in these posts.

Also, I don't think people should insult the people of a country when they criticize its government.

I disagree. Sometime, a structured approach allows to discover things you don't even know exist

I did not see any racist comments for quite some time. But xenophobic comments were common on threads about Ukraine’s invasion.

The anti-French sentiment is also present here like in the whole English speaking web.

The French aren’t known for their hygiene so I am not surprised their river is filthy

In France, we have this : https://cestquilepatron.com/

The concept is that customers are asked questions to make a new product that satisfies them. For example, they want to sell apples. They will ask in what country they should buy them, how well the farmer should be paid, what size… and you see in real time how it affects the price. Then, the product will be sold in supermarkets at that price

There is also mutual insurance https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutual_insurance

Lol no. Are you going to audit all the code you use ? You need to trust some organizations to make the audit. You NEED to trust some entities

This dude compare quite a lot of email providers in term of privacy. I do not necessarily agree with all its critics but it is a useful resource:

https://digdeeper.neocities.org/articles/email

I would recommend to buy your own domain in case you need to change again. That way, you're not trapped by your email provider and you can change in case you're not satisfied anymore

This is not your space;

Wtf ? Keep it cool man. I joined like one year ago, when it was still labeled as a leftist instance. So I'm okay with it being leftist

A community of privacy and FOSS enthusiasts, run by Lemmy’s developers

However, it is not labeled as such in the sidebar anymore. So, I thought it was going to become a more generalist instance. If not, we should recommend beehaw.org

Be respectful, especially when disagreeing. Everyone should feel welcome here.

Also, it is against rule 2 to be that exclusive.
