For me it simply came down to the fact that I prefer the layout, and it's also nice knowing I can block whole domains (looking at you, furry spammers). It also integrates with Mastodon if that's your thing (it's not my thing), and I have high hopes for the ability of Ernest (the founder and only dev, to my knowledge) to usher it in a good and healthy direction. I can see all content from Lemmy and interact with it though, so it really just comes down to personal preference.

And if it's steak especially, leave it out for a half hour to get closer to room temp before cooking.

I decided to come home during summer break during my senior year of college. I wasn't going to but I decided I should do something besides sitting around playing video games. I got in the car, drove for 4 hours, and got a call from my best friend that he was having some people over that night. I almost didn't go because I was tired from the drive. I decided to go. I knew everyone there, including a girl I had been friends with for years but hadn't seen in awhile. We were all hanging out, me and this girl ended up hooking up that night. We've been together over 12 years, married for 6. If I had decided to stay at my apartment and play Skyrim instead of driving home, we very likely wouldn't be together. I think about it more than I should lol.

You will be absolutely miserable. I was leaking blood out of my mouth for days after mine and the pain was seriously intense. Heavy dental surgery like that requires rest to recover properly.

So the Now for Reddit creator says he's been flat-out ignored for 3 months and he's panicking, he doesn't want to lose 10 years of work. Spez replies "Apologies for the delay. We are responding now.

If others have apps they would like to be considered for the paid API tier, please reach out here and select “This is a partnership request.”

The sheer incompetence of this man, holy shit. Now for Reddit is the app I have used for years, no way will I use the awful official app over that, ever.

My wife loves AITA even though she's fully aware that most of them are fake. I'm sending this list to her to see if she recognizes any lol

kbinauts is one I've seen that I don't hate. Kbinners is probably my preferred.

It still blows my mind when I go to a brewery on a fuckin weeknight and there are kids everywhere at 9 pm. I don't get it.

I still remember watching the OC back in high school and seeing them play a Playstation game with an Xbox controller. I think about it sometimes.

There's one on the way to a beta (Artemis) but I just used the Firefox feature to place a webapp on my phone so I click that and it immediately opens in Firefox.

I can make my chat bubbles be whatever color I want. My brother-in-law sometimes gives me lighthearted shit for being the green bubble or whatever in the chat but like, hey man you're the one who put yourself in a walled garden, I don't see it on my end.

So far the userbase for kbin has been widely respectful and friendly. If that changes via trolls making multiple accounts to stir shit up, I'd advocate for restricted signup processes. Right now, probably not necessary, but I can certainly see a future where it is.

It's on slate to be changed I believe, but the focus right now is just on keeping the site up and running.

I was going to install CoD: Cold War from PS+ on my PS5 since I wanted to check out the campaign but I'd never buy it. Fuckin 230 GB for that shit. I lol'd a bit and moved on to something else. So ridiculous.

I never see anyone talk about Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch but it's one of my favorite games of all time. The Studio Ghibli collab makes it ooze charm.

I mean yeah, that's me. I'm just a regular guy, but since reddit decided to screw up in the worst ways possible, I need an alternative. I don't fully understand the fediverse but I'm going to make an attempt to use kbin and see how it goes.

On Reddit I always felt like a raindrop in an ocean. I'm just one of way too many, and very little of what I wrote was ever seen or engaged with. That was discouraging at times, especially when I put plenty of thought or research into my reply, only for it to have no engagement while typical low-effort replies like "this!" Or "I'm a simple person I see x I updoot" always rise to the top. It was starting to feel like all the other social media I've quit over the years, and I was originally there because it felt like a forum, not social media. I'm on kbin now and I'm getting the feeling I got from posting on forums like Playstation Underground when I was younger. I even recognize user avatars across different threads and magazines/communities, which definitely reminds me of forums of old. Who knows what it will become but the federated nature of it means it can feel as big or small as I want it to, which is what is keeping me invested.
