They're running a beta test to the general public - only the thing they're testing is a 2 ton ball of metal and explosive material regularly traveling at 45 mph (70 kmh). They even have the gall to charge for the ability to beta test it. I really hope this gets regulated at some point, otherwise this is just the beginning

I use an iPod and physical media for most of my music

Ooo this is a good question. There was a similar thread about Lemmy as a whole, but Beehaw has a bit different standards...

Honestly, maybe a retro technology community? Set to include both retro gaming and other aspects like retro computing and the like. I'm sure one could use the current tech community for this, but I think setting aside a retro version could be beneficial

r/HobbyDrama or a more hobby oriented history community. Also r/AskHistorians or similar, although that one will take more effort and setting up than simply making the community. I personally use Reddit to see a couple memes and then read both of the subs I mentioned. I like seeing people who are passionate about a thing talk about the history of that thing.

I said that they were gonna do this as a joke to a friend in Baltimore, because we all thought this would be so ridiculous. Leave it to reality to be the bigger comedian.

Seriously though, you can see the smoke. If you put a mask on, you can taste and feel that there's less shit going into your lungs. How do they come up with this

It's wild how bad it was for awhile. People at the time complained about like iPods or old smartphones being repair unfriendly and, to be fair, they were. However, because of how hard newer phones are to repair, you see some people opine for those days and buy older devices to repair.

If anything, emulating Nintendo games has furthered innovation. The PC port for Mario 64, any Pokemon romhack, etc, all can only exist because of emulation

Jon Says "Nothing bad has happened today", there is a panel of silence, and then he says "I probably shouldn't have said that"

Fallout New Vegas for sure, although many of the issues were fixed by the devs over the lifespan of the game. Mods are pretty much vital to run that game properly, however. Many issues with the engine and many core bugs have been fixed by the community, and it's honestly something where once you play with them fixed, it's hard to go back

You're joking but currently a discord I'm in has a cult over a specific Garfield Minus Garfield comic, a cult that got genuinely rowdy when the comic stopped being posted.

All I'm saying, Garfield is probably an elder god

Geez, I thought they were never gonna get charged. Way too easy to just get away with these things in the crypto space

Too long...

Want to read some Malatesta, a book about ID Software, and This is How You Lose the Time War, but my nature makes this difficult. I always think like "Wow I want to read" and then will continue sitting on some game or website instead lol

Same reason I stopped using Tildes lol. I liked many of the things Tildes brought to the table... but ultimately, it didn't really offer anything different from Reddit

Absolutely! My favorite general purpose New Vegas modpack is Viva New Vegas: https://vivanewvegas.moddinglinked.com/

This pack is heavily focused on a vanilla or a near-vanilla experience, and, ideally, you will not notice it being modded. To that end, I recommend skipping the entire Overhaul section of the guide.

This team also has a good Tale of Two Wastelands guide if/when you get bored of the Mojave: https://thebestoftimes.moddinglinked.com/

Tale of Two Wastelands combines Fallout 3 and New Vegas into one continuous experience. This guide improves compatibility and stability, so it's a good starting point.

There's also my personal mod... https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/78329

But I have to warn, it's not really a beginner's mod, and is purely for fun

I know exactly what you mean. Got into Atari 2600 games a year ago, and it feels like an entirely different universe compared to modern games
