Is it worth watching?

I'm guessing they're talking about the 2020 miniseries. IMO, yes, it's worth watching though from what I remember as it jumps through eras it wasn't what I expected lol. Haven't watched it since it came out but I recently rewatched Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell so I'm in a bit of a Victorian era vibe and gonna go through this Dracula again.

Maybe not favorite, but it's up there. Best thing about the movie and really tells you all you need to know.

A lot of these types use 'perfect being the enemy of good' as their attack vector. If it's not private and anonymous why bother? If you can't cut out all big tech companies, if you can't stop buying any American goods, if you can't feed all the poor or house all the homeless, etc. It's an effective way to attack progression by making people believe they should just stop fighting, they'll never win. You nailed it, Signal is private, it doesn't claim to be anything else.

Is it though? Seems to me it's more or less just don't be a dick, don't judge, and treat others how you want to be treated. Aside from the magic, JC seems like a pretty average bar to aspire to.

Based on the comments on the reddit link, nothing. It's just pissing off idiots with a persecution fetish.

Yep. It's the new grift. LLMs aren't nearly as useful as they claim, so they manufactured need where there isn't any, and crammed it into everything. Next step is to release the monster on the townspeople, then claim they're the only ones who can control it. Scare the people into giving them the money and power they "need" to keep them safe.

It's the type of film I need to be in the mood for but I do recommend it. Just a heads up it's 99% one location on a small $3 mil budget, but it does really well with that budget IMO.

Was gonna mention this. Cuts about half of each film into one 4 hour film, and is incredibly well done imo. I watch it a few times a year, if it didn't exist I don't think I would have rewatched the trilogy at all.

John Oliver's team, and to a lesser extent I suppose John Oliver himself, are a beacon of ridiculous light in these dreary days. Shine that light Last Week Tonight.

It is pay, one time only. I think they have a 30 day trial or something like that with a few tiers to choose from to buy

I hadn't heard of the MP2 until this post. Looking into it, aside from the SD card, the MP2 looks to win in every other aspect for me. I'll be keeping an eye on it.

I'll be running my Pixel 9 with Graphene until I can't, which should be awhile but the MP2 looks like an interesting project. Swapping to a Google-free OS is make or break for me so this seems to tick all the boxes. I can see the physical switch being assignable as something I'd end up not being able to do without lol.

Gonna look into the Minimal OS some more and keep a close eye on this. Thanks for the detailed post.

I loved Lower Decks. Always been a big Trek fan but never gave it a go until a few months ago, same with SNW. I kind of gave up on Trek after Discovery and gave LD and SNW a go on a whim and thoroughly enjoyed both.

I created a new account a year ago to lurk instead of comment, but you're right, participation = growth. I'll be joining in again.

I'd guess because Motorola has partnered with Graphene OS to release a phone with Graphene as the os.

I have an old laptop I just use in the mornings for web browsing. Was running Mint for the last year (first computer I switched form Windows) and it worked well, but was quite slow (same as when it was running Windows). Browsing was fine if the browser was left open, but opening any app took quite awhile.

Anyway, I run Cachy on all my other computers and after having a Mint issue figured I'd just swap it. It's like a whole new laptop now, snappy and pretty instant for apps. Was quite surprised. Also the touch screen works, wasn't expecting that.
