I've been collecting physical media for over 30 years. Started with VHS, CD's and DVD's back in the day. Now I'm primarily a blu ray/4k collector as the image and sound quality is closest to the filmmaker's intentions.

It's been hard to see physical media slow down production over the past 5 years. The biggest loss is the wealth of information from all the special features that are now considered over and above what studios are willing to pay for. It's unfortunate that the newer generation can't expect features on par with what Peter Jackson shared on his Lord of the Rings Extended discs. (I know there are still boutique labels putting out great discs loaded with features, but they are fewer by the year and costly.)

There are some moments in time where the world really surprises though, and it's been a pleasant turn of events to see Gen Z embrace VHS!? The resurgence of vinyl was understandable as the sound exhibits a warmth and depth. VHS is a bit of a head-scratcher, but I can understand its nostalgic appeal. Just happy that people are enjoying physical media in any form.

His Extended Edition box sets were a masterclass in film-making. Long live physical media.

This film looks pretty underwhelming. That said, I'm there on opening night.

Holy photoshop.

The premise is...unique. The film is preposterous, but strangely watchable.

We missed out on a Spielberg directed 'Man With the Golden Gun.' I'm glad he didn't direct one though. We would have lost some really great films.

It's Nolan. He's given us so many amazing movies - he's allowed a 'Tenet' or two.

He's still makin' em. Quality is another story.

Regardless of whether it was achieved using AI or not, the de-aging is bizarre.

I don't blame him in theory. Artists want to use state of the art tools to help realize their vision. They're also (generally) very curious. If Leonardo had access to an Ipad he'd probably use it.

That said, I think we've reached a peak with AI. It's just too exploitative. Given his history of championing the film industry/artists and craftspeople - I just can't see him supporting AI in the long run.

As with everyone - he's entitled to try it out, then come to his senses.

Definitely picking this one up.

Agreed. Interesting to see, but ultimately very glad they deleted it.

V is a guilty pleasure. It's super ambitious, silly (Go climb a rock shirt?), and most of it doesn't work - but I'm glad it exists.

Or we could just do something new...

The film definitely lacked the hummable melodies and leitmotifs you expect in a Spielberg/Williams collab. That said they owe us nothing at this point. Just pleased to see he's still working at 94.

I think he's specifically talking about dealing with success as a 20-year-old. He's speaking from experience.

I also appreciated the choice to focus on Elvis as a performer in his peak years. Very immersive in IMAX. Probably the closest thing to seeing him live.

Can't understand the appeal of these movies.

Sorry to hear that. Given the small scope, I'm wondering why they went with a theatrical release.
