And the amazon result is some unknown Chinese brand with 5,000 suspicious 5 star reviews

Why would you presume that? Maybe they’re suffering and trying to raise awareness.

I guess it’s a tradition to name fediverse projects after animals and the original creator was a big fan of the Lemmings games and Lemmy from Motorhead had just died.

Here’s a link with info on the origin story:

My dad is a tech in the telecommunications industry. We basically didn’t see him for all of 1999. The fact that nothing happened is because of people working their assess off.

Probably good advice but not exactly relevant. The person was hosting a server in their house and got raided for unrelated reasons and all their electronics were seized. Had they hosted in a data center or at least had off premises back ups, this wouldn’t have happened.

This is incredibly obvious but it’s stated this way because a more honest headline would be uninteresting. The last time there was a serious Republican primary was 2015.

So they’re saying debate ratings are lower than the last time there wasn’t an obvious front runner. Yeah, no shit cnbc. Good job.

But instead fined him $5,000. This headline is stupid.

He’s obviously not poor enough to not be able to come up with 20 grand. But if your backup plan is to flee the country, why put up any of your own money? He’s going to try to be in Moscow or some other country that won’t extradite him if it starts looking bad. He might not actually pull it off but he’s dumb enough to think he can.

This community makes more sense when you realize the majority of users are CS students.

These threads are such a shit show. No one reads the article and then just has the conversation they want to have, other people who didn’t read the article think they’re summarizing it, and everyone walks away dumber.

Everyone is so god damn obsessed with “open concept” that they try to wedge it in to places it makes no sense. When we were looking at houses, this kind of thing was everywhere. There probably used to be an enclosed rather small kitchen and then they tore down the walls and there’s no where for the fridge. So the kitchen is now invading the living room so there’s no where for furniture to really fit and the openness is broken up by this dumb enclosure which ruins the openness anyway. And it probably sold for over the asking price.

Usually it’s a flipper which generally means they have no taste, glob on to Pinterest trends, and do everything as cheaply and janky as possible.

They’re so dense. My conservative uncle gave me a bunch of shit for taking out student loans. He worked at McDonald’s over the summers and paid his rent and tuition for the whole year! Meanwhile I was working full time year round going to school, barely making enough to pay rent without enough leftover to make a dent in tuition. Obviously that world doesn’t exist anymore. This was over 10 years ago, I’m sure it’s way worse now. At least I was able to find “affordable” rent.

I’ve used Linux since the 90s and I’ve never installed a flat pack or snap or whatever. They’re not required.

They’re suing Amazon for punishing sellers who don’t use Amazon fulfillment services. It’s a good thing but hardly “the big one.” They aren’t breaking them up, it’s only the big one in the sense that this is the biggest they’ll ever be brave enough to do.

This is such blatant advertising. Go away with the ad spam. That’s what Instagram is for.

This sounds too stupid to be real but I was working for one of the largest corporations in the world during this period and we were congratulated on 20% growth even though we did nothing. Of course we didn’t get an extra bonus or anything but they acted like we had an incredible year when we really just had an average year with a massive tax cut.

Then the next year, our goal was to grow at 20% again and when we missed it by 17%, no one got a bonus or raise.

This timeline is the stupid one.

Don’t worry about getting banned. They’ll just backlist the card you used and close your account. Easy enough to get around. Send them your video and demand they refund you while you’re on the phone with them. Use the word chargeback liberally. You’ll either get refunded quickly or fuck them, make them get dinged with a chargeback.

Why don’t they ever name “the chemical”? And then they switch to the 2 chemicals later in the article. All I found was this article trying to Google it although I didn’t go too deep.

This is really oddly written. I almost expected it to end with some kind of gotcha and “the chemical” was water.

Really disappointed in my Congress woman, Sarah Elfreth. I wrote her an email and she responded with basically “that’s what they told me to do!”

The developer of paint.net sells it on the Microsoft store to support the product. Not any different than buying an app through the App Store or Google play store.

It’s created by a Microsoft Engineer, not super surprising they leverage Microsoft tools to get paid.
