The realization that I may never live to see capitalism collapse

I think ntfs does some weird shit with translating names of files in different languages too, and maybe they are simlinks
Say desktop is translated to ntesctop in some language, the real file is still desktop but there is a link as ntesctop --> desktop so without changing the system it flips from one language to another. I am not sure, I haven't really spent much time on it, in recent years I did some installations at work but never got to play with it much.
I still prefer net-tools and use ifconfig eth0 up That ip mess I'd rather do without, and those funky UU device/interface names I wish them out of my system
By the way, what system/init/svc manager are you using? With 50y in your back, cron job to check if it is up and resetting it while you are away. You can always remotely cancel the cronjob ... but it will be a new mistake not the old one :)
I started on Irix and ultrix if you remember those, what would I know :)
One of the things that libertarians (a subgroup of anarchists) passed on to most anarchists is that decision process must be made by a group through consensus except for very special occasions of urgency, critical to make a decision, and a persistent insignificant minority unwilling to be convinced.
Both representation and the allowance of a majority to enforce their decisions to a minority are globally rejected by most anarchists. So to ask this is like asking what is the best way for muslims and jews to eat pork. Simple, no way!
An election process requires that all discussion has ended, the proposals to choose are clear, those who concentrate power and represent groups are also clear, and one group is going to force things on another group (or rest of the groups) by counting votes.
Having said all this and to keep track of history, the CNT (the most famous libertarian mass organization, a huge federation of non-hierarchical unions) was first in developing an election system as part of the decision making system. The earliest group using consensus for decision making were mormons' in the US west within the committee of elders.
Note: Libertarian as in pro-capitalist and the resulting libertarian socialist "tag" are products of N.American propaganda and anti-communism, spread by people who are either on a payroll or have not read a single book in their life, and spill over to the english speaking world of such people. For the rest of us using such terms the American way is a laughing matter. Emma Goldman and Errico Malatesta were libertarians, Howard Stern is an obnoxious rich capitalist freak, pop-star!
That is what I "always" thought, motorcycling will get me and I wouldn't want to live without being able to ride ... but then it happens, you don't and you get to live with what you never though you would be. ...
Some friend came along today and had Frank Sinatra "my way" playing for a ring, immediately I searched the tube and found Sid Vicious' "my way" and played it back ... he never got old. I guess they can take our lives away but we get to keep the mind young if we want... and look back to see if we are happy with choices, even the worst mistakes.
The weirdest feeling is that the older you get the more you feel time is accelerating ... you get older faster and faster after a certain age.
Maybe it is time to try something without systemd and since you liked pacman then artix obarun joborun ... parabola hyperbola (if you are into strict free software) may be good bets.
There are some really old introductory unix texts of how the system is structured and why, 99% of this stuff is still true for most linux (except some weird experimental alternatives where people tried to create ms-unix ). The basic terminal commands should also be useful, and help you understand. For example open a terminal and see the command for copy (cp) or (mv) or mkdir rm rmdir and use -h for the help of the options of each (if -h doesn't work then --help does) and then extensive documentation is found by name of command after "man" for manual ex: man chmod
One of the most magical things that happens in unix is mount, where you create a directory (mount point /mnt), take a device like your usb stick volume named sdb1
say you create /tmp/disks and in it a b c d e and mount 5 disks in a through e and it appears as one subdirectory /tmp/disks
Instead of looking at a file browser and something going cling-clong and appearing as a volume, what dumb people do
People are not under sanctions, and no linux developer worked for the Russian government, and since when has a war affected who works on what open source project. There are wars all over the place all the damn time ..
I am not talking about the sanctions, I am talking about the additional remarks on how nationalist and racist both the leaders of the project appeared to be from their statements.
Are you using one sided propaganda rags as reference to uphold your ideation of legitimate elections, when all international watch credited them as legitimate? Where is the anti-capitalist party in the US or most EU countries who have legitimate elections?

Vanguardism is not a Marxist attribute alone, some anarchists if not most entertain this tendency however contradictory to libertarian principles and values. I think Malatesta and Emma Goldman indirectly placed criticism to those that adopt it. What it means to reject it is a deep libertarian (anti-capitalist of course) issue that few realize and recognize.
If there is ever going to be any synthesis between vanguard revolutionaries and those libertarian proposals the praxis zapatistas have engaged in 31 years and the EZLN in 41.5 years should be carefully understood.

A beginner to what, to pacman, to arch, to rolling distro, to linux, to unix, to a PC, to using man-made tools ...
I made an installation to an old pc once, I though it would last a while, and since the users could barely understand what an on/off button does, they just wanted google and facebook, so it was a wm with two browsers, daughter already knew what chrome was, and in the login shell I wrote a script that each new day it booted it attempted pacman -Suy --noconfirm then once a week the cache was emptied and the logs trimmed.
That was before covid, a couple months ago I met her, she said it has been working fine every since.
So there is your dinner
PS Actually it wasn't arch it was artix with runit but that is about the same
If USAID appears as horrific to the general public, and not really news for many people with a critical mind, just imagine what its proposed replacement will be like under Trump.
Not too many administrations ago a USAF intelligence organization was formed directly under presidential supervision as chief, and came into contradiction with NSA/CIA. Then there was HSA which had a green light by past administrations to violate the constitution at will and simply blanket any enemy as a national security matter.
Of all those corporate/state tools against humanity and rights, USAID has outlived its purpose. But don't get too happy, they are just burying it in a good moment to start clean, without historic responsibilities carried on.
Kids in the US not only abuse alcohol more than any other place in the channel they are used as traffickers for illegal substances due to their less severe criminal treatment. Of course this weight is carried by the lower economic class. In anonymous interviews there was consensus though, it was easier for them to get drugs and guns than alcohol and cigarettes. That's because they had to pay an adult to get it for them, because they are selling everything else.
All this is a structural part of stability of capitalism as you very well state. Unfortunately the formula of that stability is imposed on all other "dependent" states, and in some cases in extremes (Brazil, Phillipines, ..).
You don't have a choice on the matter, so why waste bandwidth with empty proposals? Consumer tendencies and ideology is an illusion to keep movements away from threatening economic interests of the industrial/banking world. Change can never come from consumer modification.
Once in a while both bosses and obedient puppets branded engineers pay the price of their false assumptions. I suspect the reason users, not companies, are increasingly engaged in using and contributing to linux/unix/BSDs is because "corporate engineers" treated people as being stupid.
