I got my shots in secret due to needing them, didn't tell my family (they went full Q) until a recent health crisis had me hopeful admitting to it would get a member to get their shots (they're hilariously high risk).

It did not work, but they shut up about all of the BS and basically exclude me from it now. So I will say it's a win; they also shifted goal posts so I'm no longer going to die, be sterile, or autistic from getting shots.

This is a result of the US teaching for arbitrary ass tests, pushing bullshit curriculums, and using 40 hour school weeks + homework as a prepping ground for their shitty 9-5 future job, while underpaying + under supporting teachers. This isn't a "moody kids with phone" problem. Are phones an issue in classrooms everywhere? Yes. Could kids use less screentime? Yes. Is the US schooling system a well studied topic of how not to construct teaching curriculums for children? Also yes.

Seeing this episode when it came out vs in 2023 really hit different. It never dawned on me how finely honed their comedy was that season.

It's largely a non-issue in the Nordic countries as you basically have to voluntarily opt out of any government aid programs to be homeless, which understandably most don't. This goes for most, if not all, vulnerable groups; most of the help is decently robust, at least enough to keep you fed and in housing. So I don't think it's a very large portion of the consideration, almost everything is paid via mobile pay, checks (any, not just from working) are all done digitally as well.
