A rep for the Centerparti literally used this argument on the news today, they are very against it. It is just a proposal at the moment, even the military passovely criticized it as they use Signal for communication.

Hopefully that's enough for it not to pass but you never know. If it passes that's a new low.

It's ridiculous people are still pretending that the Trump admin aren't fascists even tho they do everything to make it crystal clear.

I'm pissed at the american people.

Without getting into insults and earning a ban, they voted for this guy.

I knew a guy I went to rehab with. Talked to him a while back and he invited me to his discord server. It was him, and like three self trained LLMs and a bunch of inactive people who he had invited like me. He would hold conversations with the LLMs like they had anything interesting or human to say, which they didn't. Honestly a very disgusting image, I left because I figured he was on the shit again and had lost it and didn't want to get dragged into anything.

Oh lol yeah. I did "magic" once and it freaked me out so bad I never tried it again.

So I was a bit of an edgy person and fascinated by religion. I bought a book about black magic on ebay or some shit, it came with a drop of blood from the previous owner I realized when I got it in the mail, which was kind of creepy bit you know, authentic?

So yeah, I am reading and it is fascinating stuff. I love the overall concepts and the metaphysical implications, but you know, I don't actually believe in that stuff, so I decide to try it out..

The next day I go to work in a factory, we built trucks/lorries or what it is called in english. I try the techniques I read in the book, about highly specific manifestation and willing into existence. I visualize a sort of trade, and specify the factory will stop for an extended period of time, but not enough to cause any irrepairable economic harm or loss of employment, and certainly no physical or great emotional harm, only economical at a level far removed from the average floor worker. About an hour goes by, and everything stops. Apparently, the engines have not arrived from Germany, due to some delivery chain issue. We cannot continue the line as we are out of engines and they can only be inserted at one specific point, so everything stops until we get more. We all laugh and start just chilling around the factory, there is nothing to do anyways and we already cleaned everything imaginable the first 30 minutes or so (you would not believe how fast cleaning gets done when over a thousand people are ordered to clean because "well we can't just have you standing around"). Now I want to make clear no big stop like this ever happened in my entire time there, especially not because of something that wasn't a big fuckup by someone on site. I got kind of freaked out and never really touched that book again lol.

I have some other ones, but no one else was around for those so they are easier to just blame on me not being very mentally stable at the time.

Zoroastrianism would be cool. Basically the answer is anything not europe or specifically egypt but I always felt that for example a hindu god killer game would be fkn sick. Like either GoW format or Diablo-like.

I didn't know this thing existed. Very interesting and telling of the psychological dangers on an individual level overreliance on LLMs can produce. Being so sure of oneself without actually having gone through the work and process of understanding is nuts.

I read this like "lol, thats dumb. Stupid danes". Then I realized they also use PostNord, and that we were equally dumb in getting rid of the Swedish state postal service cause now we will probably enshittify eventually as well..

The Black Arts by Richard Cavendish

I don't remember the specifics of the mental process, this was like 8 years ago. But it was some sort of manifestation technique, probably in the first half of the book

This reads wild to me. Imagine kidnapping someone, and then giving them internet access, and still you know no one will care if you ask for help online?

Seriously how do they prevent people from asking for help? What exactly do they do at the scam factory?

I imagine it is a sort of debt bondage situation, like in the fishing industry (we will fly you here, but oh, now you owe us 12 months salary for the food and travel and visa, and actually this is not the job we said it was. It has changed now sorry!). I'd love some more info on how this actually works in practice if someone has a good source.

For the moment, I just don't engage in political discussion on Lemmy. It is way to extreme for me in general. It makes sense tho that those who don't feel their opinions fit anywhere else (or get them banned etc.) gather in a place that allows for freer discussion, which I think is a good thing really.

And also just posting about niche music makes me happier than getting angry online so.. That's been a good motivation.

So like, I wasn't much better when I was 21, but I do think you did go a bit far here.

It is not your place to ban him or control what he does online, you can however tell him it makes you sad that he watches others. You said as much ypurself and you should probably explain and apologize for the overreach, but explain why. I personally think that watching porn has nothing to do with any partber you may have. It is not a real relationship and possibly even a problem he has, no way to know. What it doesn't do tho is reflect on you. Finding any other person attractive doesn't mean he doesn't find you attractive, there is no correlation.

You should talk it out, without blaming him but explaining that it makes you worried and sad and why, and unless you present it like "he should have known" he will listen if he cares about you. This is not a he problem or a you problem it is a plural you problem (god this sounds better in languages with more exact wording..)

Yeah. I tried talking to him about his AI use but I realized there was no point. He also mentioned he had tried RCs again and I was like alright you know you can't handle that but fine.. I know from experience you can't convince addicts they are addicted to anything. People need to realize that themselves.

I am very new here, and not as passionate about the fediverse as some of you are (like your average redditor most likely).

Reading the comments here I think that the fact that you notice decentralization as a user can be a problem for many but offering simple instance lists, community lists in the UI can mitigate that and make it more a feature than a nuisance (for those that have trouble navigating it).

On desktop, I don't mind switching servers with different URLs, especially since I can read them all with the same proton UI. However, on mobile (I spend more time on social media via mobile than desktop, I imagine most people do these days) using the Jerboa app I cannot figure out how to "visit" another server. I can't enter the URL, I cannot click on the URL, I cannot search for @URL and get a list of the communities hosted on it..

I am sure there is documentation somewhere explaining how I achieve this, but I should not have to look for that just to acces different instances. I use lemmy on breaks mostly and as I said, am not passionate enough about social media to read manpages for it.. I imagine some will think "then we don't need people like you here", but in the end if close-to mainstream user adoption is a goal, you kind of will need people who just want to look at cats and discover communities as well, and making jumping between instances and finding communities is an important part of making that happen.

Edit: I do not think having an official sign up is a solutiom btw, I think different servers are neat, and I most likely will sign up to another I am more in line with when I know which are available. It is neat to choose a home server, but it should be seemless to find others. There is no need to obfuscate servers and pretend everything is centralized, but having easy access to a centralized list of servers and communities built into the UI seems like a must for me.
