I've actually never heard someone refer to their native language as something other than their first language, and with Irish I can totally see how it's applicable. Good on you for taking it on yourself. I've read about the efforts to keep the Irish language going and it's very interesting!

I am shifting language study into maintenance mode for the next 3 months, meaning i just do my anki reviews and occasionally get some input through reading or videos (Spanish, mandarin and khmer)

But I also started a khmer grammar wiki on my website, just for the purposes of being able to send notes i have written to my friends when they ask

Dragonblade

  • Damage reduced from 110 to 100.
  • Swing speed increased by 15%.

Perfect, now I can miss my blade swings even faster

I set a personal goal to stay slow and consistent with Mandarin in the beginning of the year, then life happened in January and I have not recovered and I have an enormous anki backlog đŸ« .

But I've been slow and consistent with my Spanish comprehensible input. My goal over this week is to finally catch up on my mandarin anki backlog and then next week start again with mandarin comprehensible input

I have not heard of Lojban until now. That's a nice set of languages you're learning

Not learning Japanese anymore, but I remember Masa Sensei had really good explanations for everything. I listened to her podcasts on Spotify!

Learning an abugida writing system like Thai sure is a big task when not having a plan to maintain it long term, but it's def rewarding. Hope ya enjoy!

Same here. I read both lemmy and reddit through an rss reader.

Unfortunately the few subreddits I follow appear to be dead or non-existent on Lemmy but that means there's room to get it going

I have considered that! The thing I like about lemmy/reddit though is that I can follow a single RSS feed that dynamically mirrors the communities I follow, so I can just follow things natively on lemmy, and my RSS reader will pick them up.

I was trying to figure out if Mastodon can do this but I do not think it is a thing 😞.

I have some time to figure out what I want to do, though. Who knows, maybe I'll just add a few Mastodon hashtags. Thanks for the pointer!

Yupp, it can definitely get daunting. I just have to keep reminding myself to do it during small pockets of free time throughout the day. I let 750 mandarin vocab cards buildup.

I was thinking I will just bite the bullet and try to get it all done today instead of distributing it throughout the week. I'm pretty harsh on myself with vocab (if I don't get the answer within 3-5 seconds I just mark it as again). So doing it all today will give me an accurate idea of what cards I need to review more. I will channel the energy for both of us!

I started learning Godot about 2 weeks ago. I feel an urge to save all these vids for when I need them haha
