Nooooooo, that's gonna be a time sink.

Had to deal with this after innocently converting to Jagex account for that golden cape event.
I managed to get it working with TormStorm launcher install script (after several attempts, timeout galore) plus Drauxling post to avoid running rs3 (in my case) through wine. I'd assume osrs would also work (as I assume it's still java client). It was a "fun" way to lose an hour of playtime fiddling with Wine.
Personally I'd hope that they'd atleast endorsed running the launcher through Proton as to not complete kick less patient/techy Linux users out. Or, doom saying: is this a test to see the backlash/drop-out rate to decide to drop validated Linux support altogether?
Not even sure I get their divine location solution either. If resource amplification and xp rates are their problem, making then player unique and aggregate to weekly. Doesn't need to kill another class of items which removes another use of divination (which I already interact with very little, only recall porters)
And also just after they stripped most benefits from the annual subscription. Feels like poor timing, but maybe they thought they had some good will to burn. People will hate it regardless of timing though.
They're literally a major cause of not getting package updates (even on standard arch they occasionally hold updates due to it), if that's unnoticeable then so be it.
And yeah, I stopped trying to participate on the forums. Never managed to even get a response there. Would be great if they would be welcoming support in any shape (or even consistent communication when the build server is gonna be clogged for a while again so they don't need to annoyingly answer the same questions...)
Having to use the wiki to figure out whether tasks are actually completable is a bit annoying. Let's see how many fixes we're getting on Monday.
Curiosity, isn't EoC style combat very jarring compared to osrs? I still haven't really shaken off the thought that rs combat is supposed to be simplistic. (But maybe with the amount of tech in osrs shorts, maybe simplistic isn't the right word anyway)

Jagex Launcher will start to require Jagex Accounts soon.
I'm torn about them. I completely get that Whirligigs were overpowered compared to anything. Haven't interacted with anything else beyond chins. So I definitely hope the other offsets make early hunter bearable at least. So I do feel what they're getting at with a lot of the changes, but not sure I get what fills their place on some of them either.
A lot of the concerns seem valid to me, but the knee jerk responses seem overblown imo. I play ironman mostly so I'm less directly impacted by some of the changes though.
The first response from jagex doesn't bring the greatest of hope to me. At the same time they probably hadn't thought too much on reasonable options yet. Have to see what we'll get towards end of week.
I actually replaced another one for the clan I'm in. Just having fun with it as a pet project to play with rust on a more actually used scale.
I do wonder what policies they'll have for competing plugins though.
