I'd rather ban future Gavin Newsom.

Pretty much all my clothes are from thrift stores or small band tshirts. The rare times I have to buy something new I'm shocked by the price.

I showed this to a friend and he was like "but without knowing what's happening in the world, it's a lot harder"

I said, "like insider trading?"

He said "no, no, other stuff."

You're not accounting for the emotional needs of management. Many of them are cruel. They put value in making their workers squirm.

We should have worker owned things instead of the petty tyranny of capitalism, but here we are.

I didn't know they were public. Feels like being public has mostly adverse effects on like quality of art and other benefits for the consumer.

A guy I don't really like at work does all sorts of AI induced PRs. I think he thinks it makes him look good. It probably does, to management.

I got reprimanded for asking if a guy's extremely weird code was something he wrote himself. He went crying to my boss about how I'm mean on PRs. Fuck you, William. I hope your house catches fire and you pass out while asking Claude for help.

I've got the hubris to think I'd be cool about it. Starts with billionaires and Republican leadership. Ends with "people who park in bike lanes".

Turns out historically, in the US, people would protest and then the police, national guard, or army would make them stop with violence. It's very effective!

The police are class traitors, aside from their other crimes.

There was "operation lucky bag" where the NYPD would purposefully leave a backpack, and arrest people who picked it up

https://www.nydailynews.com/...

There's other coverage out there too.

The police are not a force for good.

It's because management doesn't only care about those numbers and stats you cited. They also have emotional needs. Like feeling important. Like being the boot.

They also often don't really understand how work gets done. They do a lot of meetings and schmoozing and think that's how a web server gets build. They're self centered, unimaginative, idiots.

We are ruled by the worst among us.

Edit: I realized I already wrote the same kind of thing in this thread the other day. I'm an old broken record!

So I recently read "dying of whiteness" after seeing someone go on about it here. There's apparently a lot of people that would rather personally die than let black people have health insurance

My understanding is HR's thought process is "..... ... ... .... ..... .... .... .... ......."

One time my music started playing from my phone in my pocket, very faintly, and I didn't realize. I was like "do you hear led Zeppelin??" and walked around the house for a while trying to find where it was coming from.

Working for someone else's profit, someone who you don't even like, is not uplifting. That's capitalism. You spend all day building some API, the owner starts making millions, and you a few thousand in salary.

The responsible, corporate, way of being. Definitely should have done that. I just want people to feel uncomfortable when they have fucked up. Everyone's just so polite. No one faces social consequences.

This is the same place where they don't pay for holidays. My boss told me to stop saying things like "I don't get paid, so it won't be that good" when they say "have a good holiday". If grand-boss, ghoul, and preeminent "We don't pay for holidays" enforcer Anne was locked in a burning building, maybe I'd just say "happy holidays!" and walk away.
