You are, I guess, an introvert. I am too. That doesn't mean you should rule out making friends with people. It just means you have a lower threshold for how much socialization works for you. If you can, find a therapist, and I don't mean this in a condescending way at all. It sounds like you have some kind of chip on your shoulder preventing you from attaining something that we as humans emotionally need - which is connection.

asocial

Why broadcast this on a community dedicated to bitching about reddit of all places? Seems like a cry for help. You won't find it on social media, unfortunately. Find a therapist.

If by staff you mean "volunteers", then yes. The actual Reddit staff that helped facilitate AMAs disappeared during the Ellen Pao drama.

It's hard to even take Windows seriously as a business OS when they're shoving this overly padded UI down everyone's throats. Windows 10 supported small task bars, among many other things that Windows 11 doesn't. There seems to be a lot of really tone deaf people at Microsoft working in silos, not really aware of the features people care about in their own product.

A lot of people profile him as just a weird nerd and treat him like a digital punching bag, but I think it's a mistake to underestimate a censorship extremist who built an empire on unpaid labor. Ironically, the loudest "fuck this guy" comments often help him, because they reinforce the idea that opposition is just angry noise, not serious critique. That plays better in mainstream media than you’d think.

Funny, I often run into the most combative people with "ACKCHYUALLY" attitudes when speaking to libertarians. Republican Pot Smoking Edition models of political worldview tend to try very hard to defend their very nuanced mental gymnastics of being able to be a little empathetic on the surface socially while still turning their back on those less fortunate in actions.

Those snoo avatars for the execs look like the most soulless looking art styles possible, sort of like how Chuck E Cheese got rebranded. Pretty gross.

I used to help maintain a Linux distro, and there is a level of polish Windows has that I feel cannot be reached by the FOSS ecosystem due the resources dumped into hiring dedicated teams at MS. Microsoft has tons of money. I'm sad about the direction of windows, but it generally works pretty well for how it's designed (which is in some cases awful).

I'll use Windows 10 and pay for the updates for years while using old versions of office. Fuck Windows 11.

While there's certainly a lack of content (and by extension diverse voices) compared to Reddit here, there's definitely less corporate manipulation. It's a nice palate cleanser of that gross astroturfing fiefdom.

My current Reddit account I carefully curated and built is unbanned but associated to a different email, but my primary email is actually receiving new emails as of this week that my old accounts are permabanned. That alone is not noteworthy, but over the past couple months some of my other alts have had their passwords reset at random, with emails asking me to verify. These are not phishing emails, but actually from Reddit. I think they're on to me and trying to get a confirmation, but not clicking those links so they can do their IP identification. Sociopathic, vindictive, people run Reddit apparently. Like sorry for dissenting and calling out specific employees that have bullied me, your operation is surely not corrupt. /s

Right, except the tariff gets baked into the price your importer pays to bring the product into the US. So while you don't cut a check to the US Treasury, your buyer does, and that either makes your product less competitive or forces you to eat the cost in your margins. But yeah, "carry on".

But really, there's Microsoft apps in that list.

The lack of a small taskbar mode was all it took for me to never upgrade. Just shows MS doesn't care about its users.

When they IP banned me, I just turned off wifi on my phone and created a new account with a separate browser. But looking back reddit was never worth it. We're all very addicted to this toxic form of crowd sourced moderated information. I'm not really convinced Lemmy is better on a design level, the upvote system is identical and doesn't prevent echo chambers. I guess there's autonomy with instances, so that's nice...

I like how our society places so much responsibility on private companies to manage communities, really what could go wrong. Just institutionally protected employees that are nothing more than power tripping Reddit mods because Reddit hired a decent amount of them and put them in high positions, solidifying the toxic moderator culture they already had.

I've seen the admins go on really petty vendettas against people for just mentioning them in threads, shadow banning them for the dumbest reasons. Just know your ban doesn't mean you failed in any way, this company is just morally bankrupt, as are many other companies like it in several industries.

I've gone out of my way to avoid giving Microsoft money over their continual hypocrisy on almost virtually any issue I care about. Really, a shitty company that gets away with way too much.

I'm not surprised, I started receiving bans as soon as there were rumors of an IPO. Everything about the site experience has degraded since then. I still check it from a few teddit/libreddit instances, but otherwise never giving reddit a single monetizable gesture ever again.

Windows 11 development was led by the UI team that led Windows 8, and a team responsible for more of the internal Windows development was responsible for Windows 10. You can kind of tell by Windows 11 being an arbitrary UI change with numerous regressions.
