a big reason that drove me was that I have a micropenis

Fake. There are no "reasons to drive someone" other than their internal gender, this sounds like something a cis person who thinks being trans is a choice would say.

Edit: I'm not speculation on OOPs gender

They said patent violations, not copyright, so it is about some sort of mechanic or system and not the pals or any specific designs. I'm guessing the thrown ball capture system, since it seems no other developers have published anything using that specifically.

I was using my 2016 (or so) MacBook Air the other day and getting low memory errors. I thought, wow, this thing only has 8 gb, maybe it's time to upgrade, just to see this 😐

Yep, this just prevented me, a trans woman, from ever donating to the main Lemmy project. I'm severely disappointed. I'll donate only to good instances with leadership I know aren't phobic.

This literally ignores the experiences of trans people, all of whom lost something in order to transition, and many everything. The system is being weaponized against us at every level. What an ignorant thing to say.

Edit: For clarity, I'm not speculating on whether or not the OP in the post is trans or cis, I'm saying it doesn't sound like a real story because it sounds inauthentic to the trans experience. A trans person could easily think this up, like anyone can make up a story that is close to their experiences, but since it isn't real it doesn't really pass scrutiny.

Most of the people who lived in the same building as Dahmer had no idea he was killing, dismembering, and even eating his victims in the same building as them.

Josef Fritzl managed to hide his daughter in a secret room in his basement, with his wife convinced she had ran away. She gave birth down there six times and her mom, just above her head, was completely unaware.

Dark Arc is saying that it is generally considered a bad thing, contrary to the comic which is implying that it is generally considered good or neutral when it should be considered bad.

The "tech right" has always been a thing. It's why I refuse to work for corporate tech, it's a boys club full of misogynistic man-children who believe they are deservedly a part of the upper echelon of society, better than everyone else. It's exhausting.

You believe the Brooklyn Public Library's UnBanned Books project is about grooming children for pedophiles? And not just unrestricted access to books in the same way that kids have unrestricted access to the internet?

There is a history of racists denying non-white women their womanhood. See Michelle Obama.

He never identified as white, he was proud of being black. His facial surgeries weren't about looking more white, but more beautiful, which due to white supremacy culture includes characteristics you could describe as white but not very accurately.

He used a skin whitening cream to even out his skin tone, because there was no skin darkening cream. It's medically possible to destroy melanin but not to easily replace it. The vitiligo comes in in spots from my understanding.

Bad translation/cultural interpretation? Maybe they meant something along the lines of "if I spoke he would have hurt my family" which is a verbal phrase that holds power over him, sort of like a spell.

Usually when you hear about a settlement (and not a plea deal) that means this was a civil case and not a criminal one. A civil case doesn't weigh in on whether or not criminal charges will be brought.

If enough people push the Attorney General of that state to pursue charges they still could (Edit: it's been 14 years and the Statute of Limitations is 5 years for wiretapping which I think is the highest possible charge). But there is a higher standard for evidence in criminal trials. Not to mention the defense's argument would likely be that schools have the right to wiretap students' issued laptops, so the AG probably doesn't want this to go to court and end up enshrining such a right when it currently holds civil liability due to the civil case succeeding.

I want to offer that cars have always involved government corruption. The invention of jaywalking, the corrupt development of the highways for "national security" while simultaneously hampering development of real public transit, the wars started for fuel, the extrajudicial killings of people threatening the fossil fuel industry with electric cars (historically), political corruption is the life blood of cars.

To really put this to rest:

Harakiri and Seppuku both literally mean abdomen/stomach cutting. Those who know some Japanese may recognize hara from the common phrase hara hetta which means you are hungry (literally, your stomach is decreasing in size or diminishing). Kiri means cut.

腹: hara 切: kiri

Seppuku simply reverses those kanji: 切腹

Why are they pronounced differently? Harakiri is a native Japanese word, using more traditional Japanese pronunciation Seppuku is a borrowing of middle Chinese roots: setsu from Middle Chinese tset meaning to cut, and fuku from Middle Chinese pjuwk, related to modern Mandarin fūk, referring to your abdomen.

So, setsufuku was shortened to seppuku where the Ps represent a stop and skipping of part of the word.

Please tell me I'm missing the sarcasm here 🙄🤦‍♀️

What experts do you think are lying about trans people?
