This is thanks to a rule in US copyright law which allows creators (or their heirs) to reclaim a copyrighted work after a period of 35 years. Since Garriott sold the Ultima rights to EA in 1992, this means he can reclaim those rights in 2027.

Literally me.

My absolute favorite use of the web.de address 12 year old me created was when my sister dragged me to a bank to make an account. She'd get a bonus for bringing a new customer and I'd get my first own account.

The bank employee didn't expect to meet the Klitcommander that day and when she realized it she had a hard time containing her happiness. You better believe I spelled it out letter by letter.

They don't. It's part flood the zone, part pandering to certain voters. Look what we do for you! A blue state wouldn't fight for your health like this!

Nothing will come of it but it's a positive distraction from the extraction of wealth that is currently happening.

All crappy IoT devices ever made. They aren't used in bot nets all the time because hackers like the challenge of hacking them so much. Security simply isn't a priority.

I don't know man, I currently got a baby and she seems rather reasonable in comparison. Sure she cries when she's hungry but so far she has only hungered for milk and not a nobel peace price. I'll let you know if things change.

I for one appreciate that ubisoft chose the top down view of poop as their logo. it's the perfect symbol for everything they represent and they're incredibly brave for wearing it proudly on their chest.

It's horrible. We already had that stuff figured out. Wiki pages and forums to make information accessible even after 20 minutes have passed. Fuck that development and everyone that was/is pushing for that.

It's a bit misleading to phrase it as they did. Germany didn't trial this. A few companies in Germany did. How many? Well fuck me if I know because the author does their best to keep any absolute numbers out of the article. I'm all for reducing work time since our productivity has easily risen enough to allow for that (once we eat the rich) but don't try to sugarcoat it.

This is for the best. As someone who is forced to work with a lot of Microsoft infrastructure let me tell you things have never been this broken before. They keep doubling down on AI and it simply doesn't work.

One of the issues with this is that the previous generation that knows this best in my country is currently the least interested in talking about climate change. My parents grew up in a noticably different climate but they don't want to hear or say anything about this because to them confronting climate change means giving up convenience and if there's one thing boomers hate it's giving up convenience.

I actually know people who operate like this. My old neighbor was a paycheck to paycheck kind of guy who'd always instantly spend all of his money on any trash you can think of. One day he came home with 3(!) Michael Bay Turtle movie collectors editions because they were on sale ("fantastic value!") and by the end of the month he didn't have money for food. That's how bad his financial decisions were.

Anyway instead of proper budgeting he'd come up with these horrible ways to make sure he'd have money "stashed away". E.g. he'd prepay 100 bucks per month for his electricity and then get half of it back after a year. That was his way of saving up money. Funniest thing about this was him calling the utility company and explaining to them why he wanted the highest possible monthly payment despite using so little power. They had some trouble understanding his investment strategy. Another classic was buying expensive things and selling them for half of what he payed. That's pretty much what the picture implies. If you buy a $200 android phone and spend $1000 on useless crap then you won't be able to sell your phone to pay the bills. The $1200 iphone on the other hand will get you $600 in an emergency. It's the idiot's piggy bank.

It came to me guys. I was wondering why he was so obsessed with peace because it's not really something you'd expect from someone like him. Then I remembered all the beauty pageants. All those girls on stage babbling something about world peace.

It's burned into his dementia ridden brain by a bunch of exploited minors regurgitating the same bullshit lines over and over again.

The problem lies in noticing them in the first place. If you make a thousand legit edits to various articles and then make some slight changes on some rich clients page chances are nobody will register this. Then again we're on the internet so there's always at least one guy who'd hyperfocus on monitoring something like this. The hero we need.
