I get the concern, especially since people who aren't tech savvy are pretty clueless when it comes to digital privacy, but I don't know if we're at the point where the ship has sailed on OS level age verification. At least in the US it seems like this is a fight that's still worth fighting especially since the majority of the political energy right now is directed towards the concurrent AI and affordability crises (and, on the right wing, toward stoking anti-immigrant and to a much lesser extent anti-trans sentiment). To be fair, I'm pessimistic too and realistically, yes, any sincere effort to upend the power structure will eventually need to take place offline.

Just doing some quick napkin math, the $5k payouts would cost around $1.25 trillion, pretty much guarantee at least 4 more years of no Medicare for All, and lead to absolutely no systemic change. M4A is estimated to cost anywhere from $2.5-$3 trillion per year. So yeah, he's almost certainly lying but also even if not it's a huge bargain for the oligarch class.

I hear ya and obviously I see the value of coordinating online (we wouldn't be talking otherwise obviously) but many revolutions in history happened without the internet and they can (and likely will) happen again.

It's interesting hearing the perspective of someone who didn't grow up playing the games! I'm jealous on some level, if I was in your shoes and ever felt compelled to play more I'd go Heart Gold, Emerald & Platinum with the Snap games in between as palate cleansers. Then Legends Arceus.
