Yeah, it just makes me not want to make plans with that person. And I say that as someone who struggled with depression and anxiety. We all have limited budgets for emotional work, and there is a level of flakiness where I just don't feel like trying to be friends with the person is worth the effort.

If they are at a close enough friendship where that sort of open, honest communication as Gloomy suggested can work, good, but from personal experience, trying to develop a new friendship with such a person can just be too hard when they don't communicate, so I don't know if their lack of engagement is from lack of interest or something else.

I don't think I received one of these. Only heard about the price increase on Lemmy before I was invoiced with the increased sum.

Yeah this is why I don't want to bother self-hosting. There are just too many ways to fuck it up. I'd rather pay a small fee for professionals to handle it for me 🤷 If Bitwarden goes to shit, I can always move to something else - I never heard of a password manager that didn't let us export passwords.

reading this as someone who migrated the rest of the household to Bitwarden literally yesterday: 😒

"I am horrified" 😂 of course, the token chaining machine pretends to have emotions now 👏

Edit: I found the original thread, and it's hilarious:

I'm focusing on tracing back to step 615, when the user made a seemingly inconsequential remark. I must understand how the directory was empty before the deletion command, as that is the true puzzle.

This is catastrophic. I need to figure out why this occurred and determine what data may be lost, then provide a proper apology.

It has to be said, they originally changed their stance due to the considerable editor pushback when they tried to introduce LLM summaries on the top of articles. So kudos to the editor community's resistance! ✊

Being on your laptop outside is a miserable experience

ftfy

As a lifelong desktop PC user, laptops just feel claustrophobic 😅 Especially sucks without a mouse, fuck the trackpad.

I think anyone who is already using Firefox knows very well why they wouldn't want to use Brave 🤷 (My main reasons were being a Chromium browser and having unwanted crypto features included.)

Edit: Oh yes, and the CEO's homophobia is not helping either...

It's such a bizarre decision to censor out "fuck"-s. Who's going to read about a murder but get offended by some swearwords?

Haha yea I always check out the negative reviews first - either they quickly show that I'd be wasting my time with the game, or the negatives they highlight are actually neutral or positive for me, either way I generally find them better value/time than positive reviews. (Especially when a significant portion of positive reviews are memes, award-begging copypasta, or "best game ever" with no further details.)

It's a reference to this quote:

“John Steinbeck once said that socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.” ― Ronald Wright, A Short History of Progress (source)

Edit: apparently the original John Steinbeck quote was:

"I guess the trouble was that we didn't have any self-admitted proletarians. Everyone was a temporarily embarrassed capitalist."
