chrome and edge use chromium, so everything is 1:1 compatible. you can't do the same with firefox: extensions work differently, several options will be different, any custom layouts will be missing so things look different, etc

What part of it is malicious? From what I understood, it is a illegal music downloading platform, and they say it opens its users to "legal action".

Are we calling pirating-enabling software malicious now? Because pirating is ilegal?

in part yes, because it contributed to global warming. we are almost in winter and most of the country has summer temps. that mass of hot air encounters cold masses from the antarctic, causing heavy rain.

Rain like this is atypical because it shouldn't be this hot in may

And when I say I don't trust judges and that the justice system of most places is broken for giving a single person the final decision power, based on whatever they think is right, people say I'm trolling.

Judges pull decisions out of their ass to fulfill whatever interest they have. Or sometimes just because they are stupid.

Good judges are super rare.

Microsoft having IE/Edge as the default browser has already cost them in the past. I don't think Apple faced anything with Safari.

The problem today with chrome is how prevalent it is and how that influences the main product of the internet (advertising), which happens to be Google's mais product too. Apple can at least make the argument that they make their money with the hardware, not the browser.

Either way, I think all OS should at least give you a list of browsers on first use to choose from.

I'm yet to see a radical be against something and it not be because they hate themselves. Either they want others to suffer like them, or to struggle like they had to, or to not let the "unworthy" be more similar to them.

  • You can't be gay! - probably closeted gay
  • you can't work from home! - probably is a bad worker if noone is watching over them
  • You can't abort! - probably did it themselves and regretted or are the result of a failed attempt
  • You can't have x! - probably has x and doesn't want others to be equal to them
  • You can't use drugs! - probably uses drugs

Try being in one of the many countries where whatsapp is the only path to get service from companies (banks, utilities, etc).

Even better, try living a modern life as a tourist abroad without a phone number. You can't get transportation, even public (and there is no physical payment option), you can't order delivery, you can't pay with credit cards online because you need to auth with sms. Everything requires an account and everything requires sms.

It's not just about privacy of your personal texts. People are putting entire societies in the hands of tech/telecom and demanding we identify through unsecure methods. Having a smartphone with a phone number and whatever is the main local app is now mandatory. Single point of failure everywhere.

the game's anti cheat has access to literally everything in your computer. every file, every memory address, every input, every network packet, etc. How that info is stored and used is entirely up to them

Oh yes, the grocery store commute. You can clearly see in traffic that every car is full of groceries and people everyday at all times, and is rarely one person alone

In 2023, the United States imported about 8.51 million barrels per day (b/d) of petroleum from 86 countries. In 2023, the United States exported about 10.15 million b/d of petroleum to 173 countries and 3 U.S. territories.

The resulting total net petroleum imports (imports minus exports) were about -1.64 million b/d, which means that the United States was a net petroleum exporter of 1.64 million b/d in 2023.

https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=727&t=6

The US hasn't been a net importer of oil for a long time. The reason there is still oil imports in the US is due to different oil types and refinery configurations, not because total oil production doesn't meet demand.

elon musk was asked to point a legal rep and show up to answer questions about spreading fake news and promoting criminal activity. He denied point out the rep or participating in the investigation at all. There is some backlash as the judge gave the final warning on twitter since there was no legal rep, which would be a first.
