Back up as much of hugging face and/or civitai as you can before corporations lock it all down.

To be fair, Photoshop peaked about 10 years ago and has been steadily getting worse. It's only a matter of time before they're neck and neck.

Artix is great if you don't mind Arch. Devuan is great if you like lightweight Debian (server install). MXLinux is nice if you want Debian with a usability/UI focus. As for security focused, I don't know what that means. A machine is either secure or it's not. Chuck SELinux on there if it helps you sleep at night.

Agreed. XML has been dead for at least 10 years. Still, at least it's not YAML.

No it's not. It's very relevant - it's the reason I've never recommended the software to anyone outside of close friends.

outside US and UK (and few others)

If we're considering just the US, Canada, UK, NZ and Australia, that's at least 470 million people for whom the name is problematic. As an enthusiastic Australian user, there's no way I would recommend a program called GIMP to my higher-ups.

Unlike the towns of Bra or Fuck in Austria, the acronym GIMP was chosen specifically because of its edgy double meaning.

It's not just awkward for Americans, but for the entire English speaking world - at least 470 million people. How can anyone seriously recommend a business use a program called GIMP? It is a massive hurdle to adoption in the corporate world. They should change the name, or at least create a business-oriented alias.

One of us is not making sense. Who does Israel represent if not their voters? Why is it controversial to say Israelis voted for their government? This shouldn't sound like a conspiracy. Why are you trying to make a distinction between Israel / Israelis and Jews? You can't just say "Well, all the bad stuff is done by Israel / Israelis, but all the good stuff is done by Jews."

Well of course 'Israel' doesn't represent all Jews. I never said that and neither did you. Israel doesn't represent all Jews any more than Trump represents all Americans. But, as a democracy, Israel must represent the majority, otherwise this government wouldn't be in power. So, again, I'm still confused by your statement that Israel doesn't represent Jews.

Israel do not represent Jews.

I'm confused. Israel is a democracy and Jews voted for their current government. How can you say Israel doesn't represent them?

Lidar. China uses this to track aerosol and carbon dioxide distribution in the atmosphere. Likely some similar US-based scientific monitoring. Almost certainly not Elon - he hasn't tweeted about it and there's no X branding.

Dust off your VPNs folks, you can still browse old.reddit from a Hong Kong endpoint.

This already exists as 'Mixture Of Experts' (MOE) models. It's how Deepseek is able to remain competitive with a fraction of the budget.
