I hope this becomes the norm. Having tried to form a bargaining unit myself I can tell you it's an uphill battle. Some workers are vehemently against it still and they will successfully encourage others to act against their own class interests.

Is any anticheat as effective as a community server with active moderators to ban cheaters?

When trying to organise colleagues you need to exercise a certain level of trust or it will never get off the ground. Unfortunately boot lickers will take advantage of that. It's to be expected.

Worked fine with linux in the last beta. Why disable it now?

Thanks for the source although I think that's quite specific. It seems mostly about her being ignorant and doubling down on her war against trans people rather than a blanket denial of the holocaust which the term "holocaust denier" conjures

Your article frames it this way:

While Rowling has not denied the Holocaust itself happened, she is accused of engaging in a form of Holocaust denial for questioning the persecution of trans people under the Nazi regime, a fact which has been well documented

I'm not denying she's a cunt but I think it's important to be precise with these sorts of allegations.

There may be a gap here in the definition of "liberal". Liberalism is a political philosophy that also encompasses most traditional conservatives. It is different from the colloquial usage. It's loosely defined as the belief in individual freedoms, including the right to private property. It is inherently capitalist and therefore socialists, communists and anarchists generally do not consider them to be of the left.

Good call. I observed the same a while back and have them tagged as "low quality". They removed at least one previous post of theirs when the poor source became a talking point in the comments. This site is trash.

I don't see anything about holocaust denial in your link. There's a 2018 article discussing parallels between her work and the real holocaust but it doesn't claim she's a denier. I don't really care for Rowling but I also don't like misinformation. If there is some evidence can you please share it?

I think you're jumping the gun a bit. They're just saying that requiring a phone number added a barrier against spammers and they want to be sure this change doesn't open the flood gates.

From the article:

"We gotta figure out some way to induce a cost for signing up without a phone number”, Kret said.

It’s unclear whether this means that registration without a phone number will become a paid feature.

However, “cost” does not necessarily mean a monetary fee; it could also refer to another barrier designed to prevent abuse.

What I am saying is that based on this twitter spat I would not call her a holocaust denier. You are free to make your own judgment.

I really enjoyed this film. The whole thing was so tense! Instant classic in the horror genre. It feels like there's been a bit of a renaissance over the last decade or so.

In the beta last week the game was perfectly playable via proton which is why people are frustrated.

Pretty annoying if true. I preordered with the idea that I could refund if the beta didn't work. It worked great so I was happy to wait for release but now it looks like I'll have to refund after all.

Low quality article from The Guardian. Pretty much entirely composed of quotes from the family with no independent corroboration. According to The Canary (so take it with a pinch of salt) a former Guardian journalist recently admitted to publishing a wholly false anti-Iran story back in 2010 so I'm a bit more skeptical than usual.

I tried finding more detail and it was mostly trash sites republishing the same content but I did find this article from an Iranian human rights group based in the US (again, pinch of salt) that has some more detail. According to them these twins are part of the "Isfahan Shohada Square case".

16 citizens were arrested and prosecuted on charges including “moharebeh (enmity against God) through carrying bladed weapons,” “destruction of public property,” “assembly and collusion,” and “propaganda against the regime.”

It's a bit murky. I don't really know what to make of it. Are these inflated charges against legitimate protesters or is there more to it?

If I can find this context through a quick Google though why can't The Guardian?

Google the history of Facebook. It's on the wiki. It's in the film.

I think one option is to seize on a galvanizing moment like a round of redundancies, contract change or merger and use this to get people in to a private group where they can express their opinions with less fear of reprisals.

Of course you would still have to initially communicate via some company owned channel. For this I've found people are more willing to talk one on one via voice/webcam than text. Make sure any transcription feature is disabled.

Obviously a big problem here is that you are already on the backfoot since you are relying on the the company's actions to create the right conditions. You can try instead be proactive with these chats but the momentum is much weaker.
