@lemmy.world
I found Lemmy through grapheneos! That's my story. Love it.
If I hadn't smashed my iPhone in a work related accident I would never know the joy of ditching reddit and joining you folks.
Hazzah for happenstance! Life is great!
What they are saying tho is that people who want to make actual content don't care about monetization. They do it for the love of the game. Sure you can get a few to censor swear words and suicide, but the thing that built it was freedom. If you take away freedom then you've got nothing. Half the equation is people who watch the content. If people don't want to watch your shitty watered down bullshit, and other people don't want to be gagged by censorship, you're going to alienate the base; that is, actually red blooded humanity. Oh, let's say between the creators and the viewers its about 60% of your base. It won't be over night but it will be enough that ther3 will be alternatives to the bullshit. I say bull shit because that's what it is. Fucking goddamn horseshit. Thank you for glistening.
Life's too short to give a fuck. If the people close to you overtly judge you because you're not culturally acceptable then its better to be alone. Find the people who love you for you not for what you can do for them.
It takes a certain amount of courage to drop everything and follow your dreams. You know whats right. Make it happen. A la American punk ethos. I once did this, in my 20s I got strung out and had no choice but to hitchhike to socal. Never a freer time In my life. But that's where it happens, on the edge of existence. I often dream of the potential I'll never see.
Its true. It takes a persistent act of god to overcome our general disposition. Its why we are so isolated and alone. Pity should be dispensed when dealing with us. I wish it were different, as I long for a sense of community.
It takes an Elliot smith sense of strength to have any s3ns3 of identity. I say that because that is the one thing I'm keen on lately.
