If media companies want a consistent user base, media companies can politically lobby for their users to receive wages high enough to include disposable income. those folks are just over 100 days in to a new administration and you're expecting... something different? Something more? What you are seeing IS the difference.
When was the last time you saw town hall meetings being held 100 days in with protesters being dragged out? These folks are letting their displeasure known. This is what a movement looks like in its early stages. Don't even be insinuating that it's not enough, or that progress isn't being made.
gee, how difficult would it be to get the same AI to start creating posts that seem like us, but with slightly different political views?
How difficult would it be for FB to lock a bunch of loudmouths out of their accounts and generate posts on their behalf, steadily shifting to the right over time?
of course, "they would NEVER do that".

I felt like this in January when this was first published and I still feel like it today. I'm not really sure what it will take for things to change but I get the feeling that powerful and wealthy people do not want things to change.
Discussion of Lemmy doesn't seem to be actively stifled, if that's what you mean. https://www.reddit.com/r/RedditAlternatives/ exists
